Quote of the day—Joan Skiba

Why is the Second Amendment the single go-to amendment for the assault weapon-toting people concerned that gun regulations take away their constitutional rights? Why not take a moment to read a bit from the Ninth Amendment advocating for my constitutional right provided by our government for “…obtaining happiness and safety”? I am finding it difficult to feel any sense of safety knowing someone could be packing heat at my grocery store, movie theater or local bars. Any answer for me?

All amendments matter, not just the 2nd Amendment

[Sure, I have an answer for you Joan. You apparently are getting your delusions confused with reality. In the reality shared with nearly everyone else the full text of the Ninth Amendment is:

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

Now, Madison did propose an amendment which contains those words:

That Government is instituted and ought to be exercised for the benefit of the people; which consists in the enjoyment of life and liberty, with the right of acquiring and using property, and generally of pursuing and obtaining happiness and safety.

But it was not part of the Bill of Rights in our reality. And, it had nothing to do with the government providing it.

Joan, please check with your mental health providers and see if your meds need to be adjusted.—Joe]

  1. I read through the rest of the letter. It’s written with the tenor of someone who believes that asking a question she herself cannot answer demonstrates mental or moral superiority over those who are being questioned. If there was a checklist for the Dunning Kruger danger zone, this would be near the top.

  2. She should be a lawyer! With that logic, she could be the prime minister of Canada!
    In China they have the CCP. (Chinese Communist Party). America has KKP, (Kommunist Karens Party). Joan is just showing us the level of brainwashing their members proudly display.
    Sorry Joe, I’m pretty sure she ain’t medicating her way out of this one.

    I feel says it all.

    Never mind all the times she went to store surrounded by law abiding people carrying weapons and never was harassed or bothered. She never THOUGHT about that..

    I wonder what she would feel if someone decided she had no right to vote, to publish, to work, to travel or any other of the rights she seems to care about.

    Maybe should THINK about that.

  4. Karen, conflating the Declaration of Independence’s statement of certain unalienable rights being ‘Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness’ as being in the Bill of Rights, still is so ignorant she can’t even remember to quote them correctly.

    This is the willful ignorance, informed only by propaganda, we should be concerned about: That in today’s time of the internet where an answer to “What’s in the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence” can be summoned at the push of a button or two, but she can’t be bothered to look it up.

    Does she really care, or is she just too stupid to want to learn?

    • Or, alternatively, she’s that evil. She’s lying and conflations things deliberately, and she knows it, like a con man working a mark, seeking to pillage, control, and destroy.

      Of course, one can also embrace the empowering breadth of the word “and.”

  5. Making up nonexistent “rights” to create conflicts with actual rights is an old Communist tactic to destroy the fundamental concept of rights vs power of coercion.

    Don’t merely assume that the user of this tactic is stupid, they are evil.

  6. My concealed carry firearms have no negative effect on her safety, that is unless she presents me with a credible threat. In reality, my concealed carry provides her with a degree of increased safety due to the “herd immunity” phenomenon.

    Meanwhile her desire to disarm me absolutely decreases my safety since it makes me more vulnerable to criminals. So, like all liberals, she has it ass-backwards.

    Let me put it bluntly. If we were somewhere when a deadly incident occurred, she would be THANKFUL that I was armed to save her worthless hide. Like a spoiled immature child, she is an ingrate when others do the heavy lifting and the responsible thing. Again, a failure of liberals who live in unicorn fantasy land.
