Quote of the day—Alan Gottlieb

We sued New Orleans then, and we’ll do it again. The presence of a nasty disease does not suspend any part of the Bill of Rights, no matter what some municipal, state or even federal politician may think.

While we certainly recognize the seriousness of this virus and its ability to spread rapidly. Treating Covid-19 and taking steps to prevent it from infecting more people has nothing at all to do with the exercise of the right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment.

SAF TO N.O. MAYOR CANTRELL: ‘WE SUED CITY ONCE, WE’LL DO IT AGAIN’
[There probably some minor points that could be quibbled about (freedom of assembly and travel comes to mind) but the bottom line remains untouched. Politicians have no business infringing upon the specific enumerated right to keep and bear arms any emergency circumstances that I can think of.—Joe]

  1. but they do it all the time. And although it is overturned at a later date in court nobody faces any punishment for it. What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. However for them they have, albeit for a short time, achieved their objectives. We have shown ourselves to be ineffective.

Until people start going to jail for this it will continue to happen.

    • Insert quote regarding the blood of patriots and tyrants.

      But the full depth and meaning of it comes only from Jesus, in Luke, chapter 17 (KJV);

“Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.”

It requires proper context though, of course, and for that you need the whole chapter (or rather the whole Bible). In military parlance (and this is a war), it shifts the interpretation of the tactical landscape, and thus “the blood of patriots and tyrants” takes on a completely different meaning. If, like the Pharisees of old, and like the presumptive “Jews” of today (and most everyone else besides), you’re looking for some kind of Earthly (political, legal, social, religious, economic, military, or even intellectual) victory over evil, you’ll be left waiting for that which will never come.

Hint; it’s the difference between relying on God’s (the creator of the universe) authority, God’s law and God’s power, verses relying on Man’s “authority”, Man’s “law” and Man’s “power”. The one method is good, and the other is fundamentally and thus irretrievably corrupt. Choose wisely.

(and yes I know that the Muslims say much the same thing, leaving out Jesus of course, and the reply is; Of course; anything of any value has its counterfeits. Why would anyone expect otherwise? And if one cannot tell the difference between counterfeit currency and the real thing, well, it sucks to be that person (or that number of billions of people, such as it is. But this is why we have the Scriptures; to compare all claims and counter claims, etc., against the Word)

  2. The Constitution of the United States clearly stipulates that the Several States, and The People of which they are comprised, retain all authority not expressly forbidden them by the Constitution itself (do I really have to point out the 9th and 10th Amendments to the US Constitution to this audience?). In accordance with each states particular constitution, the chief executive of said state (and such executive office holders who derive their subordinate official authority therefrom) absolutely and without qualification DO HAVE the legal authority to promulgate any action they individually deem necessary to protect the Public Health and Safety within their state’s borders, or their legislative sub-section of that border. This completely uncontroversial legal principal is frequently summarized as “the police powers” authority granted to state Governors, which expressly include the public’s health and safety. It remains an unresolved constitutional question as to whether, or to what degree, the US government has authority to regulate/restrict travel between the Several States, but there seems to be no question of the President having the authority to organize state efforts to achieve the ends those state’s Governors agree to be necessary to protect their state’s citizenry and commerce.

The United States’ chief executive has effectively the same authority as regards the external borders of the United States.

There seems to be NO evidence that what President Trump has done in regards to the COVID-19 outbreak differs in any substantive measure from what I have described above.

As Mr. Gottlieb has observed, the legal liability for results of the declarations issued does exist (and should be rigorously safeguarded after the fact), but anyone who attempts to argue that the authority described above doesn’t exist is undeniably lying, and may be a traitor (see efforts by journalists and others to promote propaganda efforts by the CCP and others to the detriment of the safety and security of the United States as example).

    • And once again we see power drunk bitches that managed to get elected over stepping their authority. SUPPRISE!, not.
Indeed, what does this virus, flattening the curve/ spread thereof, have to do with the right to defend one’s self?
There is NO legal argument to be made for partisan politics.

  4. From Lord T (above): “…And although it is overturned at a later date in court nobody faces any punishment for it.”

Taxpayer monies are used to institute an action in defiance of the Constitution, which requires private funds to contest, and when the unconstitutional action is overturned only rarely is there restitution, and then usually only attorneys’ fees, which wind up being paid from taxpayers’ monies.

I would be more tolerant toward honest examples of such disrespect for the founding document were it a standard measure to impose corrective measures, both fiscal and political, upon the perpetrator(s), in sacrifice of perpetrators’ personal monies in recognition of their responsibility for cogent actions, and immediate removal from office and ineligibility for any others.

Elimination of personal liability has granted perpetual “free ride” status to those intent on corrupting the original virtues of America’s founding.
