A little close to home

Almost all of the COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths in Washington state (and US) are at EvergreenHealth (formerly Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland).

All of my children were born there (30+ years ago). My ex-wife and I lived about a 10 minute walk from the hospital.

The hospital is still less than a 20 minute drive of where I live and about half of that for to my oldest daughter.

  1. My parents, both in their 90s, are in a retirement facility in the area. Nice place, good food, lots of fairly recent immigrants on the staff to judge by skin color and thick accents; at least three other continents are represented. I’m hoping for the best, but preparing for, well, let’s face it, they are in their 90s, and my mother has always been adamant about DNR and no heroic measures….. (dad, though, might be arguing with the cockroaches for the scraps of civilization another century from now. He might be a curmudgeon, but he’s a tough one.)

Meanwhile, it’s being reported that various senior (both in age and rank) people in Iran, China, and elsewhere have it, as well as the Pope… after greeting many for Catholic celebrations… The average age of the college of cardinals is about 78. We might be looking at a major turn-over in national leadership in the near future, world-wide…

  2. I’m going to Evergreenhealth tomorrow for an exam. Thinking seriously of canceling the appointment.

    • The cats out of the bag. Boost your immune system as best you can. And pray for the best.
