Quote of the day—Michael Z. Williamson

Keep calm. Spread the word.  Agitate against such outrages. Buy more guns.  Buy them legally. Buy them privately if you can.  Buy more, more, and yet more. There’s always the risk we’ll reach the point where America tips over. But that’s a chance we’ll have to take.

Because if it’s impossible for the government to seize 300 million weapons (the lowball estimate), it’s way more than four times as impossible for them to seize 1.2 billion.

The Virginia Debacle, Summarized (And Why You Should Buy More Guns)
[There is more than a little truth to this. But a gun properly buried in the woods and practically impossible to confiscate might as well be in government hands or destroyed. Just one gun, and enough ammunition, in the hands of someone skilled, able, and willing to use it will be of far more use that a thousand guns hidden and unused.

  1. Beware the man with only one gun, he probably knows how to us it.
That use to not be a cliché.

  2. “Keep calm. Spread the word. Agitate against such outrages.”

For moment there it seemed as though you were attempting to rekindle the Reformation, for indeed that is the primary fight. If it is lost then all the guns in the world will have been useless.

Keep your guns, yes, and stay in practice with them, but without a clear understanding of what we claim to defend it’ll have been for naught. When the left warned us that when we kill one terrorist, two more will arise in his place, they knew what they were talking about. They, if not we, understand that this war is ideological, that it is a war of allegiances, and that treating it as a physical war against people, things and earthly territories will surely end in defeat. Fighting even the leftist ideology with our own ideology compromised, or our allegiances confused, will end in certain defeat.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”. Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

Let the gun and its properties, and the honing of our skills in its use, serve then as a type, an analog, an allegory, the antitype being, “Keep calm. Spread the word. Agitate against such outrages” i.e., the rekindling of the Reformation.

  3. “But a gun properly buried in the woods and practically impossible to confiscate might as well be in government hands or destroyed. ”

I think the idea is that you have one or more backups just in case you somehow get separated from the others you have, or that you can tell someone else how to find.
