Quote of the day—David Harsanyi @davidharsanyi

Corruption, murder and starvation aren’t incompatible with socialism–most often they’re a requirement.

  1. Observationally speaking there certainly seems to be a strong correlation.

While I know correlation != causation, why take the chance?

  2. But how many times can one see correlation until one begins to understand that it isn’t mere correlation, it’s causation?
Even though the saying is that the race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, it is still the way to bet.

    • Possibly it is just correlation, with a common causation. Maybe the sorts of people who believe in socialism and have the ability to try to impose it are ALSO the sorts of people who make decisions that end in massive numbers of deaths and suffering.

Splitting hairs, perhaps, but an important one, as it might mean that prophylactic incarceration or frequent public ridicule of hard-core socialist is the only way to prevent the contagion of the mental disease.
