Quote of the day—J.D. Tuccille

While weaponizing laws against political opponents may buy votes among the faithful in the short term, it delegitimizes laws and their enforcers in the eyes of their targets. That further reduces any possibility of compliance with laws that already have a history of being honored only in the breach. When the dust settles, the government ends up looking weak and the law pointless. And the country will be more divided than ever.

Maybe O’Rourke and his colleagues will eventually be able to turn their gun confiscation wishes into law, but history is very clear that most people will defy the prohibition.

Beto’s Impossible Gun Ban Dreams
[Not only will such a prohibition be defied, there is a greater risk. It’s possible the people will implement a prohibition on prohibiting politicians. If they do, one should expect the people will have a higher success rate than that achieved by the politicians in banning guns.

Let’s keep them from being elected, get some good court rulings, and avoid the whole mess.—Joe]

  1. He and the rest of the Democratic hopefuls have gone off the rails. They want to remake America into a new socialist paradise where the imagined becomes the reality. They all are for banning guns, oil, meat, along with many modern conveniences (except for themselves). And they keep coming up with new even more extreme proposals trying to outdo each other in their march towards their socialist utopia where everyone is equal.

Of course, they don’t even know what they want, but they know that they must first destroy the western world we live in and then they will figure it out. They are operating with a mob mentality and they see us standing in their way.

I hope that the ballot box and courts can stop them. The alternative is unthinkable.

    • The alternative is not unthinkable. You can think about it and be repulsed by it. And you can be ready for it when the alternative to The Alternative is intolerable.

While true, let’s not make the mistake of believing that it will serve as a warning for any of the leftist (authoritarian), Romish agitators. Division, social breakdown and chaos; that’s exactly what they want. It’s a feature, not a bug. Ordo ab Chao”, they keep telling themselves.

The opposition to their scheme therefore is not a string of warnings and threats of violence, which they’ll laugh at, being as they want it anyway and they’ll see us as playing right into their hands. The opposition to their plan is to expose it, and offer the alternative, which is respect (and dare I say love) for human liberty, such that wholesale coercion (which is embraced, without question, by Democrats and Republicans alike) is thought of as the high crime that it is. In short, the opposition to Progressive leftist agitation is the Ten Commandments. It’s pretty much all in there (in the King James Version at least), no matter how else you’d like to spin it.

Don’t get me wrong though; the committed among the left, the real perpetrators, those who already know exactly what they’re doing and want to do more, will not be turned away from their evil ways. They’re convinced that evil will win in the end, that they’ll no longer be forced to tolerate the good. BUT we can at least bring the differences into sharp contrast, so that a few of their less committed followers might be convinced to “Come Out of Babylon” before the end of probation.

“Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” – Ephesians 5:11

  3. “it delegitimizes laws and their enforcers”

To the left the answer to that is SO EFFIN WHAT!
It’s not as if the left EVER cared about the law as
ANYTHING but a tool to be used for their own personal
agenda and ignored otherwise. The law, rules, personal
propriety, shame, conscience, morals…..ALL are foreign
concepts to the left. They are words to be used if doing
so serve the immediate need. If not useful then these
    words can concepts are irrelevant.
