If recent policies have any indication on Democrats’ intentions, the candidates have stopped their consideration for the rights of gun owners. Here are six ways — big and small — that 2020 Democrats plan to strip gun owners of their access to firearms.

And depend on Democrats making laws that curtail people’s rights.
“If recent policies have any indication on Democrats’ intentions, the candidates have stopped their consideration for the rights of gun owners.”
First; recent policies are continuations of 150+ year old goals. Second; the statement, “stopped their consideration for rights” would have to be based on an assumption that they ever had any consideration for rights. The authoritarian mind seeks total control, it sees people as either assets or as liabilities toward that end, and it will pretend as it must pretend in order to accomplish its end.
I mean, bless your little heart, and welcome to the club and all, but some serious study of history is now in order.
A better iteration then would be;
“If recent policies are any indication of Democrats’ perception of the tactical landscape, the party has entered a new phase as candidates are abandoning all of the Party’s former pretense of caring for the rights of gun owners.”
It is of course another way of saying that they’re taking the masks off. It acknowledges the age-old intent of total control, and it acknowledges pretentiousness as being one of the tools used to accomplish that goal. And of course it works.
What we’re seeing is that next phase, in which a different set of tactical lies is being deployed. To get what they want, they must eventually stop all pretend deference to the American founding principles, and pretend to offer something else.
Of course there isn’t a Republican alive who will face any of this head-on, with the intent to stop it and reverse it. Being as the Dialectic Method requires two “sides”, the Republicans too have but a role to play in this theatre; pretending to believe in the bedrock principles of liberty without actually naming them, so as to keep up just enough pretense that we’ll continue to support them. That they’re now for single payer “health care”, and increasing the federal budget by another trillion, etc., doesn’t matter; they’re touted as our best hope, and so we will surely fail as a nation of liberty.
There’s a lot of talk about recent developments as though they are something new, as though these things just sprouted up in the last few years, for no readily apparent reason and with no historical background. It’s sad to see such a shallow perception of history.
In terms of its trajectory, I believe this country was finished by the time of the Civil War in the 1860s, if not before, if not at the very time of its founding. For one thing; we’ve had public “education” for how long? And that’s just one little datum in a sea of data.
