By making good people helpless, you won’t make bad people harmless.

  1. True. But that’s also kind of running with a leftist premise. That’s having the discussion inside their artificial frame of reference, fighting on their chosen turf. It’s tacit acceptance of the lie behind the purpose of gun control (that it’s to fight crime) and then making the point based on that acceptance.

    Reject out-of-hand the very suggestion that gun control is or ever was intended to reduce crime or improve the safety of the honest. That’s never been its purpose, as anyone who looks at its history would plainly see, so why should we entertain the lie?

    More to the point then;
    Keeping the good people in check gives the bad people a chance.

    This evil’s idea of “freedom” and “equality”.

    So it is that the progressive income tax, public education and gun control exist for exactly the same, singular reason and purpose;

    When someone is insanely jealous and covetous of your life and identity, he wants to take your wealth, corrupt your legacy and assume a corrupted version of your identity. If unchecked, he robs you of everything he can get (progressive income tax), steals your children (public education), and then kills you (gun control), respectively.

    It makes no sense whatsoever, of course, but that is what we’re facing. Jealousy, envy, lust and covetousness never made any sense, but it’s the mindset that runs the world. It’s a raging beast, and you can’t reason with it, ever.

    It already hates you, for whatever your strengths, virtues, discernment abilities, and allegiance to good may be. By out-reasoning evil, you’re only drawing out the hate all the more, such that, if it wanted to smash your face in before, now it’ll want to murder you, dance in your blood, burn down your house and then crow atop the ash heap. So technically, yes; you can out-reason evil (it isn’t terribly difficult), but it won’t change evil.

    But you can certainly expose it, and like the proverbial vampire in the sunlight, evil will have a very hard time functioning there.

    In short; “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them”. Ephesians 5:11

    • This saying is actually addressed to the persuadable middle, those “Useful Idiots”, and perhaps the “Fellow Travelers” who actually believe that making good people less safe will be an effective way to make people in general safer. The liars won’t change, and neither will the true believers in detoothed, dehorned and dehoofed sheep as being the first step to a safety paradise for all.
