Point

I find it amusing people expect me to believe collecting taxes and administrating the redistribution of the remainder will somehow result in a more equitable situation. Either they are stupid or they think I can’t see that they are lying. In either case I see it as funny.

  1. Or they’re hypnotized by the beautiful, sweet lie; “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” which poses as fairness and cooperation but underneath is a foundation for a wholly coercive, brutal society.

Once again then, we run into the issue of the perpetrator verses the duped. The perp class has started with the desire for total coercive power, and then comes up with marvelously crafted lies to sell it to everyone else. The dupe class starts with the good feelings those lies induce in them, and join in with the selling process.

It’s a cult. Like all other other cults and fraternal organizations, it has the leadership which knows precisely what it’s doing, handles all the long term planning and keeps it secret, and may be very intelligent and skillful. Then it has the lower tier members and initiates who are nothing but useful idiots in the minds of the leaders. Pawns in their game of Chess. Somewhere in between are those who are merely attracted to power and the promise of material comforts. Those are the lieutenants and captains, etc.

All but the highest level leadership are either clueless or in some level of denial, which you’d expect from any cult with extreme nefarious intentions.

    • I rather like Harry Harrison’s alternative: From each according to his needs, to each according to his abilities.

(Mark Fourer, in one of the Stainless Steel Rat stories iirc.)
