(1 )(a) “Assault weapon” means any:
(A) Semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following:
(i) Any grip of the weapon, including a pistol grip, a thumbhole stock or any other stock, the use of which would allow an individual to grip the weapon, resulting in any finger on the trigger hand in addition to the trigger finger being directly below any portion of the action of the weapon when firing;
(B) Semiautomatic pistol, or any semiautomatic, centerfire or rimfire rifle with a fixed magazine, that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition;
The Common Sense Gun Regulation Act
Oregon, February 26, 2019
[There is a lot more but the above is all you need to know. Their intent is to ban nearly all semiautomatic rifles and pistols.
This is despite the Heller decision which specifically protected a semi-auto pistol and almost explicitly protected rifles of the type targeted by this law. These people, such as Greg Wasson, are criminals. I hope they enjoy their trials: http://bit.ly/EnjoyYourTrial1 and http://bit.ly/EnjoyYourTrial2.—Joe]
I have been waiting for this one to be challenged
“A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds; ”
As the standard 30 round AR mag in .223 is only a 10 round mag if loaded with .458 SOCOM. So can I own them as long as I don’t load them with .223?
At least some county sheriffs are starting to stand up
The semi-auto ban in Washington looks like it failed to emerge from committee before the cutoff. But I’m sure it will reappear as a billionaire-funded initiative this fall.
I just sent a proposal to my state senator. In part, I proposed the following:
I think it’s time to level the playing field, which is an avowed goal of liberals everywhere. I think we should consider the:
Equal Protection and Security Act of 2019.
It is forbidden for any resident of Washington State to employ, hire, or otherwise obtain armed security for any purpose. Further, corporations are forbidden from hiring security personnel for the express purpose of executive protection. The Washington State Police are expressly forbidden to provide individual protection for citizens, except where a verified threat of a specific act has been identified. Nothing in this act is intended to prevent the employment of armed security, whether by individuals, corporations, or government entities, for the protection of property, general security at a place of business, or to secure a public event.
In short, if the billionaires want to disarm the deplorable public, while they luxuriate in protected safe-zones, let us demote them to our level. The state Constitution does not preserve their “right” to do so, and in fairness, they should welcome the opportunity to become more intimately familiar with the experience of the common folk.
Another gun ban that will eventually pass that every court will support and SCOTUS will refuse to hear. I’m at the point unless it involved mass confisation and execution of all who oppose without trial I feel the courts will side with any ban. The only part they would oppose is the execution without trial as they wouldn’t have the chance to sentence us all to death for merely owning a gun themselves. Since they all hate us and want us dead.
These people push for these laws seeking what is essentially a total ban because they can. There is NO PENALTY they must face or suffer for
the never ending ongoing attempts to destroy our rights. And until that simple
fact changes they have no reason to stop and therefore WON’T stop. When
succeeding once in a hundred attempts is a win for them and a loss for us
the outcome is inevitable.
I do not think it means what they think it means. /Inego Montoya
Seriously, though, the options left are really that they are
(e) most of the above
Can’t be ignorant, can’t be well-intended, can’t be innocently misguided.
To our enlightened and guiding political leaders:
I am waiting for the Common Sense Keyboard Laws that will prevent people from publishing hate crime encouraging screeds. I am sure that there must be something that can be done to prevent such acts, Perhaps keyboards must have an integrated microprocessor that limits any typing to no more than 100 characters per hour and to avoid daisy chaining multiple keyboards, there must be a restriction on the number of keyboards a person can own. The keyboardist must also acquiesce to random inspection of their premises to assure that they are not violating this common sense law. After all, preventing hate speech is absolutely necessary to make sure that someone does not act involuntarily (as if that were actually possible) on the encouragements of the proscribed communication and physically injure another.
Oh no, what was I thinking? This is such a waste of time. There are already laws on the books that make it a crime to assault another person. No one would ever take this seriously just to waste time, resources and create criminals where none existed before. Pardon me for wasting your time but perhaps you might consider where your opinions on the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America is also leading. Controlling that right should be as much a fool’s errand as controlling the 1st Amendment. Stop wasting time, resources and creating criminals where none existed before.
