Quote of the day—Patrick J. Buchanan

In identity politics, loyalty to race, ethnic group and gender often trump the claims of party. The diversity Democrats celebrate is one day going to pull their party apart, as the social, cultural and racial revolutions of the 1960s pulled apart the party of FDR and LBJ.

2020: Year of the Democrats? Maybe Not
[Via email from a reader.

It’s something to think about and act upon when the opportunities become available. The reader also suggested some possibilities to help with the conflict:

  1. Get prepping articles in left wing web sites. If there are left wing groups saying not so fast with gun control we win. We could write leftist views of the need to prep not emphasizing defense. Then send it to starving leftist writers to rework and publish (perhaps with a small payment). Once people think about prepping (e.g., lack of police protection) that defense will follow.
  2. Target selected identity groups that have natural conflicts with other groups. Eg. Jewish white women are not welcome at the women’s march.
  3. Target intergroup conflicts. For example, Muslim groups are inherently anti-gay. Lesbians don’t want to have sex with transwomen. Freedom for one means less freedom for others.
  4. Advocate for causes that will cause internal conflict within the left. Example pregnant women are being discriminated against by planned parenthood.
  5. Develop supporting memes.

The best defense is a good offense.—Joe]

  1. I’d much prefer to destroy identity politics as a political strategy antithetical and inimical to individual rights.

    How can we do that?

    • You can’t. Those who cannot compete on merit will see no alternative to utilizing it in order to obtain power, money, and influence. The power-hungry will unite by race, clan, ideology, or any other identity group coalition they can, why trying to fracture opposing groups into as many sub-groups as possible. That’s why for the professional Left, “Black Power” is fine, as is “Irish Pride,” but you never hear about “Maasai Pride” and “White Power” is anathema. Divide your enemies, and unite a coalition that can be fractured for intragroup control as needed.
      Politics 101.
In politics, Identity trumps ideology, and as a result whites and men, especially white men, are very strongly dissuaded from identify as such. We are seeing splits now in the Dems, the blacks are starting to acknowledge the treat to their Dem party power that the other immigrant groups are, and the intersectionality victim-point counting is starting to pit straight XX-chromosome women, trans, homosexuals, and related subgroups against one another. The moderate left and the hard left are splitting as well, but along different lines, and it’s been in the works for a longer time; as identity becomes more important publicly, the moderate and hard left will fracture along ethnic, sexual, and racial lines.

  2. I’m all for fracturing Dems as a political group, but the Law of Unintended Consequences remains.
Let’s say we played their ID politics against them, and it works! The Dem party splits along too many conflicting lines to be an effective party! Now what?
All their groups have been playing for too long to quit now, would we see a rise in Identity Parties ie, the Black Party, the LGBTWTFBBQ Party, etc? If so, they will attempt power plays specific to their groups and no one else. They won’t play nice about it either, cuz that didn’t work before.
Also, what’s left after the split? A super strong Rep Party? Concentrated power is a dangerous thing regardless of the letter after your name. Would they start to morph into the same clusterfuck that is currently the Dems?

Anyway, I have no answers, just wanted to drop the What If’s.
