Because it is morally praiseworthy for people to be beaten to death rather than be shot to death with guns.
Or as I have preferred, paraphrasing others….
To some it is morally superior to have a woman with her panties at her feet and choked to death with her own bra with her rapist standing over her than for her to be still wearing both and standing over her would-be rapist with a smoking gun in her hand.
Go ahead, ban all guns and then justify to me why the former is preferable to the latter.
