  1. Here’s something to cheer you up – Paul Allen just announced that his lymphoma has relapsed. Although with his billions, he’ll likely be able to push it back into remission if it’s follicular or DLBCL, the two most common types.

  2. If I-1639 passes, and crimes committed by criminals who steal guns result in liability of the owners, there is nothing to keep lawyers from extending this to the owners of cars. Bad laws invariably have mission creep. Witness the use of the Mann Act (intended to federalize white slavery and prostitution crimes) to prosecute and persecute the boxer Jack Johnson for the temerity of being a black man with a white girlfriend, whom he went to Niagara falls with, resulting in “taking a girl across state lines for immoral purposes”, as the Mann Act was popularly defined. Also, the use of the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) Act to prosecute anti-abortion demonstrators. As Felix Dzerzhinsky (among others, apparently) said, “Show me the man, I’ll show you the crime.”
