Quote of the day—Sen. Charles Schumer

America is going to get a lot less safe.

are not only scary, they’re outright dangerous in the way they can mimic the look and the capacity of a hardened, fully semiautomatic weapon.

Schumer Goes Full Semi-automatic
[NRA-ILA comments:

Gun owners often share a laugh over what appears to be the profound ignorance of much of the anti-gun community. However, gun rights supporters must also be aware that some of these absurd moments might just be attempts to mislead the less informed. Understanding this, gun owners must work to better educate the public and dispel the lies our opponents traffic in.

This sort of thing is to be expected. Attention to detail and the truth would get in the way of his evil agenda. No need to quibble with him. Just do your best to keep him as far from power as you can.—Joe]

  1. Actually, Chuckie is quite useful as idiots go but we need to also ridicule the people who apparently believe this drivel.

  2. I’m with Jay Dee. Less Schmuck please and more on the Useful Idiots…

  3. “…gun rights supporters must also be aware that some of these absurd moments might just be attempts to mislead the less informed.”

Someone is on the cusp of understanding here. Replace “some” with “most” or “virtually all”, replace the words “might just be” with “are” and you’ve got it pegged. That sentence also dovetails nicely with Ayn Rand’s description of the Soviet Union as a “morbid absurdity”.

Absurdity is the stock and trade of the authoritarian mind. A symptom of the rejection of truth, it is as predictable as the rising and setting of the sun. Absurdity among authoritarians is axiomatic because rejection of truth is absurd, thus an authoritarian is a peddler of absurdities.

IT DOESN’T MEAN THEY ARE STUPID. Some, in fact, are extremely good at it. In fact we are up against some of the most clever, subtle and surreptitious minds. After all, you have to be clever if you’re going to get billions of people to embrace an absurdity, and they’ve managed to do just that. It takes a great deal of study and practice. The purveyors of truth are far behind them in that regard, especially if they see the authoritarians as stupid.

In fact we are up against a tremendous intelligence. That so many of us see it as stupid only shows just how clever it is. If we fail to understand that, we’ll end up trapped in its intricate web of absurdity.

  4. “…hardened, fully semiautomatic weapon”…

Am I to understand that Sen. Schumer prefers his weapons to be only partially semi-automatic… and soft?

Or perhaps he imagines battle-tested weapons to stare back at him with hardened, weather-beaten, steely eyes, a la Clint Eastwood.

I would LOVE it if some manufacturer made a padded AR-15 – soft and squishy all around – and marketed it as “the Schumer”. (Or, better yet, as “the Chuck U. Schumer”.)

    • A Markley’s Law Moment about the Tumer himself!
Maybe an AR-15 plush toy! Now to repair the sewing machine and get some material . . . 😉

    • The putative existence of a “fully semi-automatic” weapon suggests the existence of a “semi semi-automatic weapon” which, I suppose, would be a bolt- or pump-action long gun or a single-action only pistol.

    • I think the term he could readily identify due to his long years of research was,”Obscenity”, but your point is spot on.

      • Which, coming full circle brings us back to the Schumer family – where niece Amy is about as obscene as you can get.
