  1. I can hear it, because I’ve heard it so many times already; the Progressive authoritarian response. You can lay out before them most elegant of proof, or the most simple and undeniable proof, and the response is the utterly dismissive, “Times have changed”.

    “Granted” they will say, “that may have been all well and good back then, but times have changed. In these times we must look for other, more sophisticated and more intelligent solutions….”

    It is as if the gravitational constant, and all the other physical laws of the universe, are constantly shifting, and any truth you may utter, while it may even be acknowledged as truth, has an expiration date.

    Therein lies one of the tactical ruses of the left. And it’s a powerful one, in their minds at least. It doesn’t matter what you say, how well thought out, how well presented or how provable. They’ll just say the magic words; “times have changed” and all truth is rendered silly, out-dated, stupid, worthless and even destructive.

    So it is that the Youth, who see the world with fresh eyes, unblemished by the prejudices born of the past, must sweep away the old (you, and all logic and reason) and make way for a new, golden age (of the same authoritarian bullshit that’s destroyed whole civilizations, one after the other, throughout all of history). So it is that there’s a sucker born every minute.

    This speaks to the fifth Commandment of course. It came with an explanatory clause;
    Honour your father and your mother; that your days may be long upon the land which that LORD your God gives you.
    But it is often shortened to “Honor your father and mother” so as to take away any insight into it’s meaning.

  2. Lyle:

    The response to “times have changed” is simple. Pick one of THEIR immutable truths to use it upon.

    “I agree. I used to believe in a woman’s right to choose, but oh, times have changed.”

    Then, as they sputter into incoherency, ask why times change for me but not for thee.
