I guess it shouldn’t be surprising. Power is a very potent drug. And like other recreational drugs it tends to be destructive to both the user and innocent people near the addict.

  1. Politicians and power. Other people’s money. Even Mr. Smith could get elected to Congress, and within a week, this ethical, principled, new man would be thinking about what he needs to do to get re-elected. your comment about power being addictive reminds me of George Carlin’s comment that a couple of hits of cocaine made him feel like a new man, but unfortunately the first thing the new man wanted was a couple of hits of cocaine.
