Quote of the day—Carlton LeFlore

I have a hammer for my home improvement. I have my gun for self-protection. They’re just tools to me. I don’t give them any power other than that. And I feel like most people give the gun so much power, but the gun can’t pull the trigger itself.

  1. “… I feel like most people give the gun so much power, but the gun can’t pull the trigger itself.”

    Excellent point, and here’s the explanation;
    The criminal (the predatory mind, the mind which upholds coercion as a way of life) fears and hates the honest person. An honest person with a gun is simply unacceptable. This goes hand-in-hand with the desire to keep freed slaves disarmed after the American Civil War.

    It’s the very same concept. To say that “the gun can’t pull its own trigger” is no consolation to the criminal mind which, above all things, fears the truth and the justice which flows from truth. That mindset is not afraid of the gun per se; it’s afraid of YOU with a gun. YOU are (or rather, what truth which resides within you is) the existential threat.

    • Mad props to you, sir. You made the same point I’ve made on several occasions: a firearm is not a ‘get out of crime free’ card, but it tilts the odds in your direction.

      I’ll ALWAYS take a 20 or even a 10 percent chance of survival over a zero percent chance. Every time.
