I like these kind of trails the least. These are the kind where you fall to your death.

While on a hike near Tolmie Peak Lookout
[While I admit she had a point, I didn’t feel the impending disaster she did. But then, she was convinced I was “channeling my inner mountain goat”.

It was a great hike with epic views. And you don’t need to traverse the areas shown above to get the epic views like this:

I dunno. To paraphrase Merle Travis, “I’ve hiked there all my life, and I ain’t dead yet,”
My comment has been “Places that make you think ‘This is BEAUTIFUL/STRIKING/WONDERFUL!’ are usually places that will kill you if you don’t pay attention.”
Exactly. If there’s no danger (or likewise, no hard work) it’s not as rewarding.
Also, the food you labored for hours to get to the top of the mountain, or that you raised, or killed, or grew yourself, tastes a lot better. Hmm; maybe that’s why some of the simple foods that I like are not appreciated equally by others…
That’s certainly one way to explain skydiving. (The other is “skydivers know why the birds sing.”)
Doesn’t the joy in life come mostly from overcoming adversity, with grace?
Therefore when we fail, as we often do, the next adversity is an opportunity to redeem ourselves.
