God’s Pistol*

Not quite sure how I missed this little coincidence.

Any guess on the subject of Revelations 19:11?

1911

1911

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war.” (NIV)

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are often talked about in general terms, but a fair and accurate translation and interpretation of them is hard. The various translations of the Bible render the relevant lines in a surprising number of ways. But the Clint Eastwood Movie “Pale Rider” was definitely a reference to the Pale Horse and it’s rider, meting out justice via the righteous smiting.

(Update: perhaps it should be “The Disciple’s Gun.” WPWPU, or What Pistol Would Peter Use?”)

Huh…. How ’bout that….

  1. Interesting bit of information there. I’m surprized that the 1911/19:11 correlation hasn’t been mentioned more often, but then, what little bit I have read the Bible of late I have been surprized at a lot of things.

I would pray for justice but for the implications that would have upon my self.

  2. WPWPU? The one given to us by the Prophet John Moses Browning (PBUH) in response to the Army’s prayers for a sidearm capable of smiting America’s enemies. As foretold in Revelations. So let it be written. So let it be done.

  3. I’m still fond of the inscription placed on a unique .45 pistol in Fallout: New Vegas:

“And the light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:5)

But this is weirdly appropriate, too. Wonder if ol’ John Moses was up to something? 🙂
