Sweet!

David Hardy reports that President Trump is going to speak at the NRA convention:

A delicious twist: it’s the same day as the White House Correspondent’s dinner, which he announced he would cut.

The press is so incredibly hostile to gun owners to have the president snub them and court gun owners is sweet, regardless of what you think of the man.

I agree with David, yes, quite delicious.

Elaborating a bit:

President Donald Trump will speak at the National Rifle Association’s annual convention on April 28, becoming the first U.S. president to address the gun-rights group since Ronald Reagan in 1983.

  1. I’ll hold out until after the first four years. Too many politicians are known to have said one thing and done another. Remember Bush 41’s NRA “Life Membership” which lasted until the first time it became inconvenient and then he dropped it like a hot potato?

Yes, it’s a nice gesture, and I like it a lot and all, but we’ve learned that gestures can and very often do mean nothing. It remains to be seen whether DT is or is not one of those “I’m all for the second amendment, BUT” types that we’ve come to know well and hate so much.

When it comes to politicians, there can be no “benefit of the doubt”.

  2. Lyle is right. Donald isn’t to be trusted until he actually pushes for meaningful reform, disbands the ATF, or does something else monumental.

But I can relish him snubbing the establishment press to go talk at NRAAM. Or more accurately – relish the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the fools who hang off every word from the establishment media.

    • Then again, the same can be said for the NRA. When did they ever push for “meaningful reform” as you (correctly) defined it?
Unfortunately, the most that can be said for Republicans is that some of them, some of the time, will push the law slightly in the correct Constitutional direction. That makes them better than Democrats, who never do this and instead always strive to infringe our rights. But only a little better.
