FBI background checks, one of the strongest indicators of national gun sales, totaled 27,538,673 in 2016, shattering the record of 23,141,970 set in 2015. According to the Washington Free Beacon, “During President Obama’s eight-year tenure, the FBI has processed 157,233,157 firearms checks — 61,249,149 more than [in] the previous ten years.

The Unintended Consequence of California’s Gun-Control Laws
[As near as I can tell the anti-gun people are either blissfully ignorant this has been happening, clueless of what this means, and/or clueless of how big these numbers really are. Let me now give them some clues.

  1. People did not buy over 150 million guns with the expectation they would peacefully turn them in when they were banned.
  2. There were enough guns purchased during the Obama administration for there to be 2.4 guns for each of the Hillary Clinton voters.
  3. Hillary Clinton voters haven’t been buying the majority of the guns.

And, as I have said before, if they really don’t want people buying guns the quickest and easiest way to reduce gun sales is for anti-gun politicians to leave office.—Joe]

  1. Regarding what the anti libertarians know or don’t know; as in all authoritarian chains of command, we would have to separate the perpetrators from the duped, those who design and propagate the lies, from those who merely go along, from those who swallow the lies, love them, and beg for more.

The chief perpetrators, I am sure, know all of these things you mention, and know them perfectly well. The worst among those perpetrators are those who view the planet as having far too many people on it, and they’re always searching for ways to cull the population. I don’t believe they’re terribly concerned about the rising number of guns in private hands. They may even be thinking of ways to make this play out in favor of their hatred for Mankind. It isn’t going to matter to them who does the killing, or under what pretenses, necessarily, so long as enough killing and enough chaos takes place to satisfy their appetites for death.

If they even partially believe their own assertion that more guns equals more violent death, then surely they’d not be too alarmed at seeing more guns in more hands. Their only worry there is whether they’ll be able to maintain enough control and power for themselves.

  2. Yeah but, 99% of the guns are owned by 2% of the populace, or something. The news said so, so it’s true.
