Bang Bang (my baby shot me down).
Other versions by Nancy Sinatra are pretty good, too, if you like the song type.
Or if you prefer Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga. Or maybe Nico Vega.
Dark song, but sometimes guns are used in dark times and for dark things.
It’s a dark song, but the reference to being shot down evolves from play to metaphor–never a deed. The Raconteur version is a bit melodramatic for my tastes. Written by Sonny Bono, it was of course performed originally very well by Cher with the proper melancholy feeling. Sinatra approached it similarly in her cover of it. Thanks for sharing, I haven’t heard it for a while and enjoyed listening to the different treatments.

This old Hippie still prefers the Vanilla Fudge Version.
IMHO not much to do with guns, though. I believe the phrase ‘my baby shot me down’ was meant to be a metaphor, not reality. Maybe we should ask Sonny Bono….
