In elementary school, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic school, run by nuns, way back in the late 1960s, two kids were added to our class. They were a brother and sister whose family had just escaped from Cuba. We weren’t told anything about how, or why, and I didn’t figure out they were refugees until years later. The brother was about 3 years older than the rest of us, which meant he always got picked first for kickball games at recess even though his English was horrible, and the sister was the darling of all the males and envied by all the females because her ears were pierced and she wore makeup to school as a 5th grader. Leslie and Olivia, I haven’t thought of you for years. But I remember how glad you were to be in our little school in Charlotte, NC, and out of Cuba.

It is a major wrong for a tyrant to die of natural causes, but it is the world we live in.
One of the previously Big Three networks did a short piece on the passing of Castro last night. They started it by saying he was a revolutionary against a brutal dictator and finished it up by saying he Brought His People Education, and Healthcare.
What a sweetheart.
They can’t help themselves. They’ll never get out of that mode of propping up socialists, communists and dictators no matter how idiotic or hypocritical it makes them look, and no matter how much it costs them. Their allegiance to the Dark Side appears to be total and unbreakable. Their dying breath, it would seem, will have to be some dig against America or some justification for totalitarianism.
Be careful now; all this talk about Trump I’ve been hearing makes it sound like he’s a warrior for the libertarian cause. We can hope of course, that a life-long, New York Progressive will, late in his life, undergo a massive ideological transformation, learning a whole new way of thinking within a two month period, but I’m not not counting any un-hatched chickens.
Just as likely, Trump’s role will be to absorb the anti Progressive backlash, and to make it as painless as possible for the leftist agenda. Republicans, if nothing else, have proven very effective in that role. They’re like the body guards of Progressivism.
