Quote of the day—Theotis Robinson

There is no electoral path to the presidency left for The Donald. He knows there isn’t. So now he is trying to de-legitimize the election by claiming that it has been rigged by a shadowy global conspiracy to prevent him becoming president of the United States. Trump is the one who has prevented himself becoming president by his foul mouth, repeated lies and incoherent policy statements.

Trump has only himself to blame for likely loss
[Certainty is for ignoramuses. Or as Charles Darwin in The Descent of Man wrote:

Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science.

  1. So many of the pundits, the “intelligentsia,” the talking heads and “journalists” called this wrong that if they ate all the crow they have earned we’d have to give Corvus Linnaeus an endangered species listing.

  2. “Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge”

I dunno; are you sure about that?

Anyway ; I like to see confidence in a person. It’s how ideas get put to the test. Waffling weasels don’t accomplish anything. So by all means, please, bring your crazy, dipshit ideas forward, and own them, especially if I can act on my ideas and own them too.

    • It depends. Someone can have confidence because they have done the same, or a similar, thing hundreds or thousands of times. As in “I can run to the mailbox, get the mail, and be back in five minutes” (we used to have a long driveway). But having confidence in the matter of human behavior or the frontiers of science, as Darwin was referring, are something completely different.

In general, when many opinions exist those who are the most ignorant are those who are the most certain.

  3. “Wicked people are always surprised to find ability in those that are good.”
    Luc de Clapiers

  4. “It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.”
    Ronald Reagan
