The gloves come off

By now anyone paying any attention to politics will have at least heard of the disgusting attitude Donald Trump has, or at least had, toward women. The consequences of this might well be that Trump loses, and rightly so, the vote of a large majority of women and many men.

Scott Adams predicts a different outcome:

I assume that publication of this recording was okayed by the Clinton campaign. And if not, the public will assume so anyway. That opens the door for Trump to attack in a proportionate way. No more mister-nice-guy. Gloves are off. Nothing is out of bounds. It is fair to assume that Bill and Hillary are about to experience the worst weeks of their lives.

My prediction of a 98% chance of Trump winning stays the same. Clinton just took the fight to Trump’s home field. None of this was a case of clever strategy or persuasion on Trump’s part. But if the new battleground is spousal fidelity, you have to like Trump’s chances.

The Washington Post gives us hints as to what Trump might bring up:

Heading into the second presidential debate, Donald Trump and his allies have signaled that he will bring up a variety of claims concerning the sexual behavior of former president Bill Clinton. Clinton has acknowledged being unfaithful during his marriage to Hillary Clinton but has denied charges of sexual assault.

Trump may also raise a rape case that Hillary Clinton handled as a young lawyer in Arkansas, as well as claim that she attacked Bill Clinton’s accusers.

The suspected rapist she defended is the most damning for Hillary Clinton:

This refers to a 41-year-old case that resurfaced when the Washington Free Beacon in 2014 discovered unpublished audio recordings from the mid-1980s of Hillary Clinton being interviewed by Arkansas reporter Roy Reed for an article that was never published. The case was also covered extensively in a 2008 article by Glenn Thrush in Newsday.

This morning I received an email with a link to this video:

I’ve been saying I need popcorn for this election. Now I think I need to make a run to Costco to buy bleach.

  1. joe:

if you have a fault, it is that you are too nice.

who cares what trump says about women in private “bull” sessions w/ guys. big damned deal.

if you cannot see the difference between hillary clinton and donald trump then you deserve entirely what you are going to get, which is a power hungry liar, thief and possible killer.

you are too damned decorous, and you will suffer for it, if hillary is elected. you will deserve entirely what you get.

    • I’m not saying that what Trump says about, or his attitude toward, woman significantly affects his, or anyone else’s, ability to be President. I’m saying it will affect the voters. People don’t want someone representing them that thinks poorly of them. I don’t think it is an unreasonable conclusion to think that someone who thinks poorly of you will treat you poorly later.

But you are correct, a poor attitude toward a large segment of the population is completely independent of whether the candidate will do what is best for those voters the and country in general. But if all other things were equal I would vote for the candidate who had a more favorable attitude toward women.

      • This Gloves Come Off post + everyones’ responses inspired me to dig deeper into the varied reactions towards Trump’s locker room talk.

So, on a whim yesterday eve, I stopped by my local Republican Party Headquarters to watch people watch the debates. (Note: I’m not a Republican.)

I was there to merely check the RP vibe with my own eyes.

        == Observations  ==

        – 12 women, 2 men

        – It was like watching a football game, but the crowd was in total role reversal. The men were muted. The ladies were loudmouths.

        – Memorable quotes of the night, all from women:

“I came here [RP HQ] to watch this because it’s not safe out there to cheer for Trump.”

“I don’t care what Trump said in private recordings. We’ve all said offensive things. Hillary’s husband doesn’t just say offensive things, he does them.”

“How can women [who are pro-Hillaries] be so dumb? Do they not read history?”

        == Conclusions/Surprises ==

        – I was surprised. I thought there would be way more guys.

        – I didn’t expect the women to be so feisty.

        – The womens’ disdain for Hillary ran deep. They consistently expressed disgust that Hillary uses her womanhood to seek presidency.

        == Opinions ==

Trump’s private guy talk won’t lead to much loss of his female voter base.

If anything, his locker room talk will increase his female voter base. Trump turned a shameful hurdle into an opportunity, cleverly catapulting Broaddrick + Company into the spotlight, which is exactly what this nation needs.

(Obviously, I wasn’t conducting solid scientific research last night. I’m colossally biased in my findings, being that I think Hillary is the 2nd most vile human being on this planet — George Soros is #1.)

    • There are differences between Hillary and Trump but it’s not obvious that one is preferable over the other. Both appear to be narcissistic sociopaths who overestimate their knowledge and competence. I can’t even guess which is more corrupt.

      • Assume they are both corrupt. Hillary is running with the support of the MSM, the Dems, and the establishment Republicans. Trump is running against ALL of those. Who might get more of an extreme agenda passed through Congress: Hillary, while calling everyone who opposes her a racists, a misogynist, and a troglodyte, when those that support her git the E-ticket ride on the gravy train? Or Trump, who will get called on the slightest infraction or problem?

Seems like an easy call to me.

        • I look at it this way, as far as we know, Trump hasn’t gotten anybody killed. I see piles of people that Killary has sent off for worm food in one manner or another.

  2. I’m not a Trump fanatic, or partisan, or enthusiast; I probably won’t even vote this year (for reasons unconnected with the quality — or lack thereof — of the candidates).

However, my opinion in this case is that Trump supporters need only remind people who attack him on this language that what Trump said, Hillary’s nominal husband did. This may keep the loss of votes to a minimum.

      • The other difference is that Hillary has the vast majority of media cheering her on, while that same crowd is opposing Trump. So if, hypothetically, both have equally evil intentions, Hilary will be able to deliver far more evil results than Trump.

    • Exactly: words versus actions. Hillary has lead Bill’s clean-up crew for decades, cleaning up for very real harm done, not mere words. Hillary’s trashing of women Bill toyed with is far more disgusting than anything Trump ever said.

What bothers me is the way the R party is throwing Trump under the bus. They would, quite literally, prefer to lose to Hillary than win with someone they don’t totally own. The R party is about party power and big donors and keeping the big government gray-train flowing their way. They can “work with” a big government leftist, using her as a bogie-man for fund-raising, but where the rubber meets the road there is precious little difference between the two factions of the ruling party. The republican party would rather shoot their own allies, knowing they won’t shoot back, rather than attack the democrats or other socialists. They fear Trump because they think he might not be above taking some of the corrupt R power players down because they are corrupt.

We may not be at the end of the American Empire, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel… and we can strongly suspect we know what is coming our way.

      Republican Party dalenda est.

(I still think it would be funny if amid Hillay’s point-and-shriek about Trump’s words (not very nice, but very typical of the rich and powerful throughout history) a DNA test comes to light saying that Web Hubble is Chelsea’s father. Words versus actions…. )

  3. I’m conflicted about this video.

It is the job of a defense attorney to get their client off the hook. Period. A repugnant, violent pedophile rapist is entitled to a competent defense. I think this video hits too hard on a lawyer using legal tricks to suppress evidence or obtain favorable rulings; and not hard enough on the nasty shit this vile, power-hungry, soulless bitch did to destroy a 12-year-old girl in the furtherance of her goal.

    I need some bleach, too.

Related, I posted this to the CommieFace earlier today. It is one of my favorite quotes. I really am beginning to think we are seeing the nation open up its veins to begin this process.

“Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant to step the ocean and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia, and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest, with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force take a drink from the Ohio or make a track on the Blue Ridge in a trial of a thousand years. At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer: If it ever reach us it must spring up amongst us; it cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen we must live through all time or die by suicide.”
    ~Abraham Lincoln

    • Indeed. If Clinton got evidence suppressed, it is because a trial court determined that it was illegally obtained, and it should have been suppressed. That’s her job. And never forget: a defense attorney is defending, in a real sense, the constitution. The particular defendant is merely the embodiment of that constitution, in real terms. And the State is always a greater threat to liberties than any criminal.

The kind of trashing of the victim done here typically would be inadmissible today, due to various “rape shield” laws which make victim’s prior acts generally inadmissible to smear character. If it was not inadmissible at the time in Arkansas, Clinton would not have fulfilled her ethical duties to her client if she did not use that tactic – again, if available under the law at the time.

And remember – her ethical duty is to her client, not the truth. While a defense attorney cannot knowingly lie to a court, or put on false testimony, there is no duty to seek the truth; indeed, in many cases, the duty of the defense bar is to bury truth and obscure it. It is the burden of the State, not the defense, to demonstrate guilt; it is the job of the defense attorney to set that bar high, and ensure that truth is truly proven. That is the best defense we have to protecting the innocent against the State and it’s essentially unlimited resources – and remember, the defendant is presumed innocent.

All that said: Look – Clinton is an evil, corrupt, bought and paid for, statist, lying, criminal bitch. And I’m being kind. What she did in keeping her e-mail server private, and passing classified material through it, would have sent mere peasants to jail. Personally, on the off-chance he is elected, I hope Trump does prosecute her. If he’s not elected, the House should continue the investigations and vote articles of impeachment – and no, the Constitution does not limit impeachable offenses to those committed in office.

I can fault Hillary for lots of things, deservedly so. But I can’t fault her for successfully doing her job as an attorney all those many years ago. And no, that is most certainly NOT an endorsement of her client or his alleged crime.

      • I understand and agree with getting the evidence suppressed because of sloppy handling by the police. But who could really believe it plausible a 12 year-old virgin girl “wanted an older man” and “fantasized about being raped”?

That is what I fault her for in this instance. And it is entirely consistent with her defense of Bill Clinton. She has a long history of defending and enabling rapists. This demonstrates an evil character well beyond anything bad I have heard about Donald Trump.

  4. Do disgusting words towards a few women = disgusting attitude towards all women?

    No.

I’m a woman. I don’t care if Trump engaged in the act of guy talk. That’s for the boys.

Guy talk happens. So does girl talk.

(The latter ain’t so pretty; you should hear the things women say.)

Regarding other talk ouside the locker room, in public, Trump’s said some distasteful words about people who happen to be women.

I’m not excusing his language. His words can be harsh. Trump’s un-PC. For some, that means he’s a bully.

Setting aside w-o-r-d-s, let’s now take a closer look at sticks, stones, broken bones, bruises, assault, rape, adultery.

    Adultury is consensual.

Assault and/or rape are not consensual.

Forget about Bill’s infedelities. Fact: Bill Clinton is a rapist. Hillary Clinton’s his ennabler.

Bill Clinton has a an extensive history of sexual violence against women, spanning several decades.

    So for tonight’s debate…

On the right, we have Donald, a productive guy who builds things, employs thousands of people, yet uses bad words.

And on the left, we have Hillary, an unproductive woman who breaks things, lies, steals, and terrorizes women her husband assaulted or raped.

    Let’s get ready to rumble!

  5. Joe, Just exactly how do you think most women talk when they think no man is listening? Locker room banter is not a true reflection of attitude, it’s just boys being boys AND girls being girls. You missed this one by a mile.

    • I’m willing to accept your conclusion but it is not consistent with my experience. I’ve only rarely heard that kind of talk. Once was in high school and when challenged by another guy the guy trash talking a particular girl backed down. I heard is a few times when I was working in a logging camp where it went unchallenged. And I heard it once at a party and even after the guy apologized it was the talk of the party the rest of the night.

My experience may be different because I don’t intentionally hang out with other men. I end up being around a lot of men at gun matches but I have always far preferred to be around girls and, as I grew up, women. I prefer them over men as friends and I can’t ever remember thinking of them as conquests or objects for my personal pleasure.

      • Which just goes to show you how unusual you really are. Your perspective is at least a three sigma deviation from the norm, in more ways than one.

        • I agree. Joe’s an extreme oddity.

          Though so are you, Rolf.

          ‘Tis a compliment of course.

You guys are a fabulous basket of abnormal yet adorable deplorables.

      • If you have not experienced being around females as they trash talk about men, AND ESPECIALLY other females, you have been deliberately sheltered by them, or you have been associating with an unusual class of them. A rare class, I might add. They generally keep it within their own group, because guys are usually shocked to hear it, and it tends to make them look bad, which they try to avoid for good reason.

Females tend to be MUCH more nasty about it. They’re serious as a heart attack when they get into it, which is why it is so shocking to guys.

  6. “The consequences of this might well be that Trump loses, and rightly so, the vote of a large majority of women and many men.”

Only those voters who vote on emotion – IOW, those who shouldn’t be voting at all.

It keeps coming down to the same thing. Trump will be a possible disaster, but Hillary will be a guaranteed one.

  7. Thanks, John.

Do you think it’s fair to call Bill Clinton a pedophile? I do.

The Bill Clinton/Rape meme’s sweeping the nation. Bill Clinton Pedophile would be an excellent 2nd meme. I’ll get right on that.

    #BillClintonPedo

Some more bits about Pedo Bill Clinton — Checkout 5/30/2016 post, “Clintons have the Lolita lovers vote locked up”.

    My comment:
Just because a person [Donald Trump] flew on Epstein’s 737 as a guest, that doesn’t make him or a pedophile. One man’s 737 biz trip could be another man’s Lolita Express.

Based on what I’ve read, Trump was certainly acquainted with — and did business with — Epstein. However, Bill’s relationship with Epstein seemed to be more chummy, bro. Not only was Bill a frequent flyer on Epstein’s 737, he was also a steady guest at Jeff’s Palm Beach compound –and– Pedophile-Orgy-Island estate in Virgin Islands.

Virginia Roberts, former sex slave of Bill Epstein, has shared her words about Donald Trump. Below is an excerpt from the book, The Clintons’ War on Women, Chapter 7, page 96. Trump’s quote about Epstein is rather funny:
    …………….
In her lawsuit deposition, Roberts said she met billionaire Donald Trump once at Epstein’s Palm Beach mansion and that “he was a complete gentleman” and that she never saw him act inappropriately. Trump turned down numerous invitations to Epstein’s hedonistic private island and his Palm Beach home. There is no evidence Trump did anything improper. “The one time I visited his Palm Beach home, the swimming pool was full of beautiful young girls,” Trump told a member of his Club Mar Lago “‘How nice,’ I thought, ‘he let the neighborhood kids use his pool.’”

  8. I just watched the video, and I am appalled (but not surprised) at how the left turned this into “sexual assault”. First, trump recounts a specific case where he “moved on” a woman real hard and “tried to f**k her”. He also says he failed. He did not say he f**ked her anyway. So off the bat he establishes that he takes no for an answer. This is of course ignored by the left. Then he goes into generalized banter about kissing and groping women, but he also says- and I’ll quote verbatim, “and when you’re a star they let you do it”. He expressly said this was consensual activity. Expressly- not implied. Yet Trevor Noah goes on a diatribe using the terms “non-consentual”, “forced”, and “criminal”- the exact opposite of “they let you do it”. Donald Trump is a pig. He is clearly accounting how he uses his wealth and celebrity to get laid and feel up women, which is not admirable. But it’s not sexual assault, and it not criminal. What pisses me off most is that the left is trivializing real sexual assault by doing this, and they are doing it for political gain. It’s should be offensive to real victims of sexual assault and their loved ones.

  9. Trump is an authoritarian and I’m not willing to give him the power of the Presidency. I don’t think he’s capable. I think he’s a con artist and he’s pulling the big con on all of you. Once he loses, he’ll have a huge right wing fan club that he can sell crap to.

As it stands right now, I’m positive he’s going to lose. The only thing I wonder about is how many Republican Senate and Congressional seats are going to fall into Dem hands.

    • ubu52, I have to agree with you completely, that Trump is an authoritarian; however, I suspect that you are going to vote for someone who is every bit as authoritarian, who is every bit as incapable to be President, and every bit a con artist, as Trump.

I could be wrong: you could be voting third party this time around, after all. But if you’re excited that Hillary is going to win, on the basis that Trump is an authoritarian, you are a hypocrite indeed.
