This November, I refuse to again vote in favor of being controlled. I was once utterly defenseless at the mercy of a person who felt entitled to my life, and I refuse to allow that to ever happen again.

For all its words about fairness and consideration for the weak and the minority, Leftism is all about control, and in its ultimate form considers that the state IS entitled to the very lives of its subjects. Stalin’s NKVD hauled people off the streets, acting as a press gang for the special projects so beloved of Stalin, the White Sea Canal, the Moskva-Volga Canal, and the Volga-Don Canal, but espeically the gold mines in Kolyma, which could not have been built by the Soviets unless the subjects’ lives were forfeit to the state. “The Forsaken”, by Tim Tzouliadis was primarily about American immigrants and “guest workers” in the USSR in the 30’s who were caught in the maw of the soviet state, but it described how the state acted as if it was entitled to the very life of the citizen. Not just the wealth produced by the citizen, but his or her very life. As the regulatory state becomes ever more intrusive and all-encompassing, this truth will become evident to more people, but people are slow, and their realization, unlike that of Kimberly Corban and the other readers of Joe’s blog, may come only as they gaze upon the goldfields of Kolyma and their deaths.
