Some people cannot be convinced by information. Never forget that. They genuinely believe they are our masters. I expect events will eventually convince them otherwise.

Mailvox: the reluctant revolutionary
[I have nothing to add.—Joe]
“I expect events will eventually convince them otherwise.”
Don’t count on it. “The Little People” (said with disgust and contempt) may rise up on occasion and put down the authoritarians, but the authoritarian mind isn’t changed by the experience. It angrily licks its wounds, consoles itself, and looks for its next opportunity. Always looking;
“The Gods of the copybook headings, with terror and slaughter return” — Rudyard Kipling, 1919 (and that’s a feature, by the way, not a bug – it’s born out of envy and hatred)
So it is that all of human history is but a moment, and we live in that moment. The assertion, “The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same” speaks to this condition. “Things” may change (we now have Saran Wrap, air conditioning, computers and space ships), but the conditions under which we live, i.e. the principles, or Principalities, at work in human affairs, are static. I call it “The War (or Contest) of the Alliances” but you can call it whatever you like.
If the authoritarians are put down effectively enough, they will certainly be “convinced” they are not masters, either by virtue of being in prison, or by virtue of no longer being among the living. I suspect that’s what Vox meant.
If you’re lining up with Theodore Beale, I’m done with you, Joe.
Any “lining up” is strictly confined to the quote above.
