Yay! We love pounding stakes.

While putting stakes in the hillside for Boomershoot 2016.
[There may have been a note of sarcasm in her statement.

Okay. There was a note of sarcasm in her statement.

Well, actually, there were many notes of sarcasm.

Yeah, I think we heard a whole symphony of notes of sarcasm then.

We usually have about six or seven people. Today we had four, then Tim got a flat tire and went to Orofino to get it fixed. It was just Terry, Barb, and I to pound 284 stakes in the ground on the hillside (this was just in the 575 to 700 yard area, we will put hundreds more at the 375 yard line on Saturday evening or Sunday morning). We also put a rubber band on each of them and put some steel targets up.

We got it done but it took a lot longer than usual.—Joe]

  1. Sorry I’m not there today, I took a personal day off from work today to get everything I had to square away done up here in Pullman. I will try to be there as soon as I can after I get checked into my hotel room Saturday morning.

  2. Joe was featured at the beginning of Larry Correia’s MHI. Maybe he can give Barb a guest appearance since she has a demonstrated proficiency in driving in stakes.

    • I was? I know the name Cecil Huffman (also the name of my grandfather) was used for an accountant in MHI. But me or anyone like me? I don’t remember that.

  4. I don’t know if they would serve for stakes this small, but I’ve found that a post driver is way easier to use than a sledge hammer. Perhaps a small custom version. It’s just a chunk of pipe welded shut (or capped) at one end, with a handle. The advantage is that you can’t miss and whack your hand, as I used to do a lot.
