Quote of the day—John Niven

It seems increasingly obvious that the real infant with a gun here is America itself. Watch it stumbling around like a giant toddler, wreaking untold havoc and then screaming its head off if someone dares to confiscate its beloved toy.

It’s about time someone took the toys away for good.

John Niven: American gun laws are just crazy, it’s time we took the firearms away from them
[H/T to Say Uncle.

Don’t ever let anyone get away with telling you that no one wants to take your guns.—Joe]

  1. “Someone.”

Keep on agitating, asshole. In over 200 years, no one has been able to do this. In the meantime, MYOB. You have enough troubles over there.

  2. Seems to me that you redcoats tried that sometime ago, and we drove you out. You even came back a few years later, and got your arses whipped again. Methinks you had best keep your nose out of our business, Niven!

    • Then, a few years later, they begged us for firearms, and us toddlers sent them over boatloads of privately-owned guns to protect their shores. For which no “thank you” was ever uttered, and after which none of the guns was ever returned.

The sun set on the British Empire decades ago.

  3. Seems to me that someone too immature to trust himself with a weapon shouldn’t be slinging epithets like “infant” around.

  4. It used to be that the right to bear arms was respected, at least for some Brits. But only ever “the right” Brits. And of course, what happened over time is that the number of people in that elite subset got smaller and smaller, until by now it is very nearly zero. This is what happens when you don’t have a Constitution, and when the law said only “That the subjects which are Protestants may have arms for their defense suitable to their conditions and as allowed by law” (as cited in Heller).

I for one wholeheartedly agree. We should take firearms away from the gun laws.

    😉

What do you mean by “we”, pray tell?

Sounds to me like the mice voted to bell the cat. As I recall, that wasn’t terribly effective either.

  7. Actually, the article itself is s big pile of nothing. A gun tragedy happened, this can be extrapolated across a nation of 300 million people, therefore “somebody” should violate a sovereign nation’s Constitution. Oh, and Trump.

There. Now you don’t need to waste your time reading it.

It would be fun to retort that “somebody” should take away their bloody Magna Carta, since they seem to have forgotten what it’s for. But that’s okay. We’ll mind our business… and keep our guns to ourselves.

  8. How did those London riots work out for you, John Niven?

I also recall a soldier beheaded in the street and no one could stop it.

    Pathetic.
