Dear Joeann,
Please really think about opening a dictionary once in a while. Please really think about trying to understand the American principles of liberty. Please really think about protection of human rights, and the concept of power residing among the People rather than government. Please really think about what happens whenever government decides that it’s job is to use its powers of coercion to mold, shape and direct Mankind rather than secure human rights and stand out of the way.
In short, Joeann, to those of us who have really thought about these things, you appear to be almost unbelievably ignorant and/or stupid – a tool of forces you do not understand or even notice. That’s being kind, because the alternative is that you understand something of which you speak and you’re being intentionally deceptive, meaning we must deal with you as an enemy operative.

Same thing. You can be neither for or against one, without also being for or against the other, e.g. you can’t be for the protection of human rights and be anti-human.

Actually, in untrained hands, they don’t even do that; they mostly miss. But in trained hands, they can do a lot more. They can deter a violent crime from happening, which happens at least 90,000 times per year in America, according to the Brady Center. (The NRA thinks it happens a lot more often than that.)

By the way, the NRA is fighting for many aspects of rights for gun owners. The right of ordinary citizens to own any automatic weapon they want is not one of them.
