Quote of the day—Amy Schumer

I just felt the need to get involved because of how personal that event felt and how upset it made me feel.

Amy Schumer: ‘I Think It’s Money’ to Blame for Gun Control Problem
[I find it very telling that her actions and thoughts are based on her feelings rather than on data and analysis. She is apparently one of those people, as it typical of anti-gun people, who don’t know how to determine truth from falsity.—Joe]

  1. “‘I Think It’s Money’ to Blame for Gun Control Problem.” Yes, I would say that is true. It’s the excessive money of people like Bloomberg who are responsible for the problem of “gun control”.

  2. “one of those people, as it typical of ant-gun people, who don’t know how to determine truth from falsity.”

AGAIN with the ant-gun people! Don’t people have a right to protect themselves from rabid packs of ants with whatever means necessary?

  3. She can be as anti-gun as her relative, Senator Schumer, she still does great comedy. Which is more than anyone can say for her relative, Senator Schumer.

  4. “…her actions and thoughts are based on her feelings rather than on data and analysis.”

Practically all music, TV shows, movies and other forms of entertainment exist as attempts to excite the emotions. Our culture tells us, from the time we first start out in life, that our feelings, emotions and our dreams are the essence of being human. A man, it is said, is supposed to learn to be “sensitive” rather than logical or principled.

It is probably the biggest lie of all time. The fact is that the emotions carry you away from what it means to be human. Emotions are what make us love the beautiful lie more than the plain truth, and defend the liar while attacking the truth sayer. They make us impatient with our wife and kids, or fellow drivers on the road. They make us do stupid things. Emotion is the root cause of all chronic problems, crime, divorce, wars, unemployment, and of course the deadly scourge of communism & Progressivism.

      • No, not emotion, facts. Evil and crime do exist. Rapacious government officials with aspirations of despotism exist. Firearms are both fun and practical and address the ugly issue of evil in society like nothing else can. Our passion and zeal for liberty is not an emotion, it is a motivation.

      • Define this term of yours; “gun nuttiness”. I suppose it can mean whatever you wish it to mean, and can change with the circumstances, but let’s try just one definition for starters. Make it clear and concise. You already have a poor start. Given that it includes an insult (nuttiness), it already looks to be the result of an aversion against gun owners and/or libertarians, which would be the result of an emotional reaction. So it looks from here that you’re accusing gun ownership in general of being the result of emotion, while your term is itself the result of an emotion. Projection, then? Who knows what lies in the hearts of anonymous blog commenters?

Let’s see if you can give us an objective definition of the term, i.e. without any subjective language included. Then we’ll see, thereby, if you have a point beyond chiming in here to make a gratuitous insult by way of damage control/diversion when you see legitimate criticism against your world view.

In summary; beyond poo-flinging, do you have a point which you would like to clarify, so that we may understand you better? Granted, there is more than enough poo-flinging from the pro-gun side also, but let’s, for just a moment, put that aside for the sake of understanding.

        • Now you’re just being mean.

Mean people should not own guns.

Therefore you should not own guns.

          (See what I did there?)

          • Yup, and of course the definition of a mean person, among other things, is “one who owns a gun”. In general, a “mean person” is;
“One who disagrees with Progressives or Progressive ideals”.

        • And of course Schrödinger’s “Progressive” disappears.

Did she retreat because she got a devastating dressing down? Was this just a hit-and-run poo flinging, making her a litter bug on the Internet? Or is she just too proud to argue with neanderthals?

No way to prove any of them, but if she comes back we know which one she’ll claim.

  5. “I just felt the need to get involved because of how personal that event felt and how upset it made me feel.”

Just to be clear, from the quote she is motivated by her feelings about HER and how that effected HER and not about facts or the dead or empathy about how painful it must be to get shot or concern for others.

    • Excellent point. Her expressions of personal feelings, all self-centered, are considered the very definition of compassion AND intellect among a significant number of people. We’re invited to share in her feelings, and then act out against a human right (or those who espouse said right) as a response. It’s a very subtle, feminine, fluffy call to war, in fact.

“No, Eve; put that apple down!”

      • To put it more bluntly, it’s not the fact that people were killed that bothers her, but the fact that they were killed at a movie showing of her movie.

        Yikes.

That’s even worse than the bit a while ago when a number of Israelis were murdered in a synagogue in Jerusalem. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (I think that’s what it calls itself) put out a statement in response. No, they did not condemn the murder of Israeli Jews. What they condemned is murder “in a house of worship”.

  6. “She is apparently one of those people, as it typical of anti-gun people, who don’t know how to determine truth from falsity.”

Of course she does. If it feels true to her, it is true. And if she feels that gun-rights people are lying to her, then that must be the case.

Such a worldview must be very comforting. You can rely on your emotions, which, to you, are never wrong. You need not concern yourself with thoughts and analysis, which is hard and can make you wonder if you’re right after all.

    • It’s a form of self-worship when it comes right down to it, and so anyone who disagrees with you is therefore a blasphemer or an apostate. That is not to say that we on the pro-liberty side are immune to such things.

  7. All of her cm,nets are based on “feelings.” I don’t give a shit how she feels. It has NO bearing on my rights.
