  1. I recall doing this sort of “humor” in elementary school. The original joke would end up so twisted up that even if there was a thread of logic in it to start, the whole thing made absolutely zero sense unless you were “in” on the joke. If you were part of the crowd, every little permutation would bring gales of new laughter.

    That’s what these guys are doing. They are so inbred with what they think is funny, they have lost all recognition that what they are saying is so nonsensical that it’s even lost impact as an insult. Try to actually understand what the example given means – it means nothing at all.

  2. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

    Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
    Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

    Ye are the salt of the earth; but if the salt have lost his savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

    Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. — JC

    One you get past the old English translation, he has a point. By that measure then, there aren’t near enough horrible things being said about me. So I am failing; my salt has lost its savor, and my candle burns low. There is the small comfort in knowing that at least someone is bearing false witness against me, though indirectly, through association.

    Or as Zaphod Beeblebrox put it, upon learning that there were several nuclear-tipped, guided missiles converging with his ship;
    “Man, this is GREAT! We must really be on to something if they’re trying to kill us!”
