Quote of the day—Alan Korwin

My anti-gun-rights friends — you don’t seem to understand that crimes and atrocities committed by madmen are not valid grounds for infringing on the public’s right to arms — a fundamental freedom. This is why you meet the constant resistance that befuddles and frustrates you.

This is why you meet all the indignant furor and nothing gets done. This is why, from the man currently in the White House to the woman who wants that seat and those who support their anti-rights position, you’re looked down upon. This is why, when you’re literally dancing in the blood of helpless innocent victims, cut down in their prime, you are scorned.

From that insensitive immoral place you come after me and my fellow decent upstanding Americans, with a self-righteous, but more importantly dangerous intention of disarming everyone who didn’t do anything. You don’t need gun control, you need help.

      • And it is a classic. We shout it from our doghouse rooftops often.

It applies to a lot of the Progressive, group-think assertions as well. It counters the Art of Smear.

      • Had a moment of glee, thinking you’d opened the comments back up. Then I checked the date, and my hopes, as usual, were dashed.

*grumbles about creepy stalker trolls ruining things for everyone else* Le sigh.

        • I still say we should hunt down Tam’s stalker with baseball bats.

          • Hammer handles. Preferably for the larger framing hammers. More acceleration that way.

    • And it’s not just the self-righteous attitude. There’s also ignorance and outright deception.

So often they’ll demand laws without even knowing what’s currently on the books or the acutal mass-casualty event they proport to care so much about… let alone their ignorance of the bills they’re pushing.

To many the idea that they should be informed about guns, gun law, or, heaven forbid, the very bills they’re pushing for is an affront.

And then there’s the outright deception. It’s very hard to trust someone’s intentions when they mock you for being paranoid for worrying about X at the same moment they talk about how great X would be.

  1. “You don’t need gun control, you need help.”

First you need to be locked out of government and politics, for liberty’s protection and for your own. Then we’ll see about getting you some help, but first things first.

  2. So far the people who seek to curb the fundamental Second Amendment rights of non participants based on misuse by madmen can see that the rantings of the mad on the street do not compel the curtailing of the First Amendment. So far.
