Quote of the day—Williams, Gibson, and O’Donnell

Our city will be a better place when we realize that our overwhelming access to guns and penchant for violence will only be mitigated by supporting our men and women in blue, realizing they must not be left to address this crisis alone.

A Holistic Approach to Reducing Gun Violence
[So they think the police need to reduce access to guns? And how can they do that and still respect the Bill of Rights? The Supreme Court has very clearly said the 2nd Amendment means what it says, “… The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

Either these people are saying they have no intention of honoring the U.S. Constitution or they are saying they completely out of touch with reality.

That gives people only two options on how to deal with them:

  1. Prosecute them for conspiracy to infringe upon the rights of the people.
  2. Insist they get treatment for their mental health problems.

In either case they have no business holding the positions they do.—Joe]

  1. It’s well established that most real cops do not favor gun bans, though a number of highly publicized chiefs (who are political animals under control of the local politicians) do.

  2. So the men & women in blue “must not be left to address this crisis alone.”

What should an unarmed citizen do, then? Stand on the sidewalk and shout encouragement to the outnumbered officer addressing the riotous crowd or fights with a suspect for control of the officer’s handgun?

I think the officers might want an armed citizenry for such support.

    Self-contradictory within a single sentence.

  3. Given that they think that residents of NYC have “overwhelming access to guns “.. that either shows mental delusion or that they feel NYC’s laws aren’t restrictive enough.

The Sullivan Act enables overwhelming access? Hope these elitists never make it out to Wyoming. They’d probably vapor lock immediately upon entering any hardware or sporting goods store.

  4. “Either these people are saying they have no intention of honoring the U.S. Constitution or they are saying they completely out of touch with reality.”

    Those aren’t mutually exclusive possibilities. It’s probably a “both-and”, not an “either-or”.

  5. I support our men and women in blue…up until they ignore the Constitution and become agents of tyranny by trying to confiscate my firearms. Best they never try.
