Quote of the day—Tim Svenson

SB 941 will not provide any additional protection of Oregon citizens against violence.

SB 941 will create new layers of legal barriers to already law abiding citizen.

My fear with SB 941 is that these citizens will now be at risk of being charged and prosecuted for acts they have done several times before with no negative effect on our community.

As with many of these laws, it becomes very difficult for law enforcement to enforce, and there’s no consideration of the financial impact on the already stressed court system and background check process already in place.

  1. Sheriffs in Oregon oppose the bill. County Commissioners in Oregon oppose the bill. City Councils in Oregon oppose the bill. Rank-and-file police officers in Oregon oppose the bill. Most private citizens in Oregon oppose the bill.

But Bloomberg supports it from New York. Criminals support it. And Democrats support Bloomberg and criminals (but I repeat myself). Therefore, it will very likely pass.

And “Progressives” wonder why we feel our country is being taken away from us by “leaders” who have turned their backs on us.

    • They also have language in the bill to claim an emergency so that the law takes effect immediately and is not subject to possible referendum by the people of the state before it becomes law.

      • Yep. We’re being railroaded.

I stand by the last sentence in my original comment. They can’t credibly claim to represent us and listen to our concerns when everything they do involves an effort to shut us out.

Which is also why I wholeheartedly support the recall efforts on two representatives and one Senator (so far). If they want to shut us out, we’ll just boot them out. We’re the bosses here, not them.

  2. The Protection of Lawful Commerce Act in Arms Act makes it unlawful for any licensed importer, manufacturer or dealer to sell or transfer any handgun unless the transferee is provided with a secure gun storage or safety device. This excludes transfers to law enforcement officers and federal or state agencies who are licensed to have guns.
Adding to an advantage of owning a gun safe is; the law immunizes any individual in lawful possession and control of a handgun and uses secure gun storage from a qualified civil liability action. A qualified civil liability action is the criminal or unlawful use of a handgun by a third party if at the time of access the handgun was inoperable by the use of secure gun storage. Thus owning a gun safe would be protecting an individual from state prosecution as it demonstrates responsible gun ownership.
Tragedies and accidents involving guns are exploited by anti gun groups to push for their messages that guns are dangerous in any individual’s hands .Thus locking up your guns shows responsibility and protects your 2nd amendment rights.
    Safety:
Safe storage of firearms when they are not in use so that they are inaccessible to unauthorized and at risk individuals provides a practical way to increase safety in our homes.

      • She hasn’t crossed my threshold yet. I’m exceedingly tolerate after decades of practice. So she is tolerated for now even if she is a bit trollish at times.
