  3. A certain mindset sees the Brasco quote as cleverness. Doubling down on it, coming up with even more extreme insults, is therefore even more clever. It’s that pigeon on the chessboard analogy– he’ll strut around, knock over the pieces, crap on the board, and declare victory.

    But once the Brascos of the world have reached the end of the extremity of insult, where do they go from there? If their words fail to result in the desired “injury”, if they eventually realize that we’re just laughing at them, what then?

    Isn’t physical violence the next logical step for them? But they’re cowards, and so how does a coward engage in physical violence against superior forces? Progressively, that’s how, and right there we see the framework for what’s been happening over the last one hundred years.

      • Yup; Progressively, with a capital P– via anonymity, proxy, lies, irritations, corrosion and subterfuge. It’s a system of picking away at a stone mountain with a little fingernail file, because that’s all they’ve got and they hate the mountain. It works, eventually.

      We are not their peer group, so they do not care what we think. As long as their peer group confirms their words nothing we can say will dissuade them. Look at the prevalence of shock value “humor” on the standup comedy circuit. Outsiders can criticize it for being monotonous, intellectually vacant and not at all shocking anymore all they want, as long as the fans eat it up the trope will continue. The same applies here. They may say they are “challenging and shocking the establishment” or whatever bull they use for their excuse, but all they really want is validation from within their small community.

      There is no end game, since continued validation *is* the end game. The words will only become action if action becomes necessary for further validation, and *that* can only happen in extreme circumstances, as Rolf points out (though admittedly those circumstances are becoming more common).

      • Good point. I believe that some of them are really trying to get a reation out of us at times, in addition to getting validation from their peer group. And if the peers don’t ever see any result outside of the peer group,. it could get boring after a while.

        That’s why they need to crap on a police car, take off their clothes in public, or burn down a store now and then. Politically, it’s all they ever do, and they do it every, day after all. So no; it’s not ALL just talk. Action is often insinuated even if the talker has no intention of being the one to take it. Remember when Bush 43 was elected? “Snipers wanted”. Sure it was a joke. And yet it wasn’t.

        • Of course, my point was not that they wouldn’t like their words to manifest physically, just that that was not the primary driver for them to say those words. If you take away the validation of their peer group the words would dry up and they would find a different way to seek validation (either by seeking approval from smaller, less public and more radical peer groups, or by changing rhetoric and cause to seek approval from a different peer group).

          That is also not to say they would change their belief, just that the attention seeking behavior related to this particular topic would diminish.

          Also, getting reaction out of us can be used as currency in their peer group. Again I reference the shock value comedy trope. Getting a scathing review by some “family”, “conservative” or “establishment” media outlet can be used to enhance prestige in their circuit. “See Joe Loser LIVE! Cited as the ‘Worst Human On Earth’ by %Some ‘Family Centered’ Focus Group%. Be edgy by attending, tickets while supplies last!”

    That sounds about right. It does make wish for a touch of poetic justice like him getting mugged/raped while being defenseless, or being butchered by either the terrorists or the agents of a despotic state. Of course, those are just some of the excellent reasons why millions upon millions of his fellow citizens are armed.

    When you vehemently insult and rail against about half the population of the country exercising a Constitutionally recognized right, maybe you are not the sane one.

  7. Just looking at the logic; if we’re busy fucking our sisters, why would we need to also dildo ourselves with guuuns? Wouldn’t it more typically be one or the other? Also; the guns and ammo expense for a moderately high volume shooter would be enough to buy a whore now and then, if it were somehow all about sex.

    Putting it all together then; we have super tiny pee pees, with which we constantly fuck our sisters, while simultaenously dildoing ourselves with guns (somehow – I’d need to see the gun camera film on that one) and spending more money on ammo every week than the price of a cheap whore. In other words we’re getting in tons of weird sex AND having a good time shooting a lot, and letting off explosives. So, I forget; what are we (ehem) “compensating” for?
