Quote of the day—AllynF

The cheap and easy availability of guns in any home in America makes it very easy for criminals to get their hands on as many weapons as they choose. All they have to do is break in and steal them and create their free market of stolen guns on the street –quite the active and ongoing enterprise. Shhhhhh…this is a truthful point that upsets Conservatives if you even dare to bring it up and burst their bubble. They like to pretend that there is no cause and effect that results from that.

Comment on Gun Control, Real Time with Bill Maher.
[Got that? Criminals “get their hands on as many weapons as the choose” because private citizens possess guns in their homes. The specific enumerated right to keep and bear arms is the root of all problems with guns.

If banning the private possession of something would solve the problems associated with it then banning alcohol, cigarettes, and recreational drugs would solve problems too. AllynF has no respect for the Bill of Rights, no concept of guns being useful for the protection of innocent life, and at best a tenuous connection with reality.

Don’t let anyone ever get away with telling you that no one wants to take your guns.—Joe]

  1. Ummmmm Excuse me AllynF, but by your “logic” we should take all firearms away from the military and police too. I think the military is where Bonnie and Clyde got their BARs from, and the police (including the BATFE) have contributed their fair share to the criminal elements. (PLUS the ORCHESTRATED gift of illicit guns transferred to the cartels in Fast and Furious.)

GSM (government school moron) – stupidity accompanied by the presumption of superior intelligence

  2. “gsm.” i like it. descriptive, trenchant, and quite true. plus, laden w/ true psychological insight.

now, craig, if you can just figure out how to work “tiny penis” into that descriptor, we are armed to do battle on all fronts. laughing.

    • “craig, if you can just figure out how to work ‘tiny penis’ into that descriptor”

Um, no. Dick jokes are what the *grabbers* fall back on. Let’s rise above that.

  3. This is straight out of the anti-gun talking points. Several of Joan Peterson’s blogs use this line of logic.

Best example is this one (now discontinued for unknown reasons) written by her and Jason “Baldr” Kilgore
    http://kidshootings.blogspot.com/
Every post end with: “Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.”

Implying the same thing. To keep guns out of the hands of criminals we need to disarm the law-abiding, and to keep guns out of the hands of children we need to disarm the adults.

Carte blanche confiscation is the name of their game.

And remember, Joan is on the Board of Directors for the Brady Campaign, as well as the President of a Joyce Foundation AstroTurf group. If the anti-rights lobby as a whole didn’t feel that way, they would likely ask her to stop, tone it down, or ask her to politely step down to seek other pursuits. (To be fair the same can be said about the NRA and Ted Nugent’s bombastic sound bytes. I kinda wish Ted would tone it down, but in the end I agree with the NRA that he does more good than harm, and what he says is really more crass than outrageous)

And Joan’s latest parrot of this line was this week!

Plus she’s said what many of them try not to say:

  4. The basis of all gun control advocacy is that firearms service no useful social purpose. From this postulate all limitations on the right are not infringements, but rather reasonable regulations.

  5. I guess by that logic, the drug dealers are getting all their cocaine by stealing it from law abiding cocaine owners.

  6. Every criminal starts out as a law-abiding citizen. Therefore it is the honest, legal, good and upstanding population that serves as the feeder system for crime. Therefore we can eliminate all crime by specifically targeting and eliminating all good, law-abiding citizens. QED. Perfect logic.

  7. One of my favorite replies to such non-sense is this:

“To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will allow… For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding.” -Jeff Snyder

    • That one just went into my collection of great quotes. Thanks!

Then there’s this one (quoted by Neale Osborn, but he’s not the author): “Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.”

By the way, the original claim is not true. See for example http://thehomegunsmith.com/. Or the description of a “bang stick” in Clancy’s “Without Remorse”.
