Quote of the day—Christopher Cantwell

You give us absolutely no option for escaping this violence. We are forced to choose between the violence of you, or the violence of someone else. You tell us “Love it or leave it!” or “Move to Somalia!” like I don’t have any right to be left in peace in my own home. The fact of the matter is, if you give us a choice of violence or violence, eventually we’re going to give some violence back to you, and making fun of you on twitter will become the least of your concerns.

  2. I liked the paragraph before it: “Since we know we have inferior numbers, and the minority always gets screwed and threatened by democracy, this is exactly what this discussion looks like to us. It begins and ends with the threat of violence, so the fact that we don’t shoot you in the face really speaks volumes to our civility.”

I’ve always thought it ultra hypocritical that the same people that “fear” us, claim that we (the gun culture) are murderous, twisted, belligerent retards just set to go off, and just know that placing a gun in the hands of a normal person turns them into a psychopathic automaton – are the first to confront us in person, with absolutely no concern for the consequences if what they claim is true. If it WAS true – every time the Demanding Mom’s hopped off a school bus, some gun owner would mow them down. But it never happens because they are so utterly wrong – but can’t quite figure that out.

    • This can’t be understated.

In fact, the vast majority of people snapping and mowing people down are coming from the left/Progressive/Narcissist/authoritarian mindset, which is blatantly obvious and predictable when you think about it for just a little bit– One ideology upholds the concept of inherent human rights, liberty and individual responsibility, whereas the other denies and violates human rights and denies individual responsibility, seeking to blame others while saying that your only hope for a decent life is to belong to their group for political strength in numbers.

Gee; which mindset is going lash out in a rage?

And so we might address the issue of culpability. The left would have us blame our enumerated constitutional rights for people lashing out. I would look more closely at the ideology of hopelessness (your only hope of getting above minimum wage is for a new law increasing minimum wage, for example) and the ideology of blame. “It’s not your fault that you’re poor or miserable. It’s THOSE people! GET ‘EM!” says the left about someone every single day. It’s as if they’re trying to get people to snap and commit mass murder or suicide.

      • “Gee; which mindset is going lash out in a rage?”

Which will lash out, and following the carnage fall back on its ideology and blame everyone else NOT part of their group for “triggering” the lash-out?

We’re to blame for being targeted, they’ll say, for daring to be individuals and standing up for individual rights, instead of submitting and joining the collective. But don’t talk about being armed for self-defense; that will be portrayed as “blaming the victim”.

“We should give lawful gun owners the benefit of doubt and cut them some slack; they have not perpetrated the mass slaughters we’ve predicted in the wake of loosened gun laws and have been nothing but polite to us,” said no statist gun-grabber, ever.

  3. You guys do realize that the author, while pretty extreme in his libertarian views is not anti-gun ownership, right?

    • Well, yes, of course. And why did you say “while pretty extreme” as if libertarian views imply opposition to guns? Just the opposite: the consistent defenders of gun rights are libertarians. Not democrats, of course, we all know that. And republicans — yes, but only some of them, some of the time, to some extent and subject to disclaimers and change without notice.
