Quote of the day—Candace Fay

The AR-15 is an assault rifle and in my mind there is no reason why a civilian needs to own an assault rifle.

[Don’t ever let anyone get away with telling you that no one wants to take your guns.

This is also an excellent example of how people intent on doing evil do not fit the Hollywood vision of an evil doer.—Joe]

  1. Definition of “assault rifle”: a rifle they want to take away from you. The previous term was “saturday night special”. The new term is just as evil, just not as overtly racist.

  2. Aside from the total ignorance of firearms, she seems to have missed the entire history of America, and of the world.

IN HER MIND there’s no reason for a civilian to own an “assault rifle”. So as long as we own them in reality (the few NFA AR-15s out there) rather than owning them in her mind, then we’re cool?

Or is it that what’s IN HER MIND must be forced upon everyone else? SHE sees no reason to own an NFA registered select fire carbine chambered for the 5.56 mm NATO cartridge, which is fine because frankly I don’t either, but apparently her goal is to use the coercive power of government to make sure no one else owns one.

Anyway, she’s speaking gibberish and you can’t really parse gibberish. Her main point, obviously, is that she’s utterly clueless. She’s showing her allegiance to her Earthly object of worship, which is the authoritarian kleptocracy, and that’s all that matters. It’ll probably be good enough to get her elected.

  3. Candace Fay is a blood dancer.and in my mind there is no reason that Connecticut needs to make a blood dancer a legislator.

  4. Well, since the U.S. Supreme Court has made multiple rulings to the effect that the First Amendment protects non-verbal “speech,” I need to own whatever firearms I so choose as a form of “speech.” It’s my way of cordially inviting statists like this to autofornicate.

Of course, this clueless bint is unwilling to understand that the entire point of the Bill of Rights (or, as Kevin D. Williamson describes it, “the List of Stuff You Idiots Can’t Be Trusted To Vote On”) was to put certain preexisting rights beyond the reach of the electoral and legislative processes.

    • Actually, to put ALL pre-existing rights beyond the grubby hands of politicians. Specific ones listed in amendments 1 through 8, and the rest in amendment 9.

  5. If we take a huge leap and assume she knows exactly what she’s talking about, then she is in agreement with Col. Jeff Cooper, who also didn’t see any reason for the AR-15, either in full auto or three-shot burst firing modes. She does make a blanket statement about assault rifles in general though, apparently regardless of caliber, which is where I have a problem. Assault rifles obviously have their place. The other difference is she singles out civilians, whereas Cooper included the military as having no use for the AR-15 or its variants in 5.56 mm. He frequently derided both the “poodle shooter” cartridge and the three-shot burst, though as an advocate of liberty of course he never called for having them outlawed.

I wonder if this twit would know if you told her, gave her a copy of the NFA, and a current price list, that a transferable assault rifle, if you could find one, would cost five figures and up and take months to procure.

  6. There are no civilians in America Candace, only citizens. If you can’t tell the difference then you are not qualified to be a Connecticut state representative.

  7. The assumption she makes that she actually has a mind is the fatal flaw in her argument.
