Quote of the day—Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

The bourgeoisie is many times stronger than we. To give it the weapon of freedom of the press is to ease the enemy’s cause, to help the class enemy. We do not desire to end in suicide, so we will not do this.

Vladimir Ilyich Lenin
[I haven’t found a convincing source for this so if someone has it or has reasonable proof it is false let me know.

Regardless of its source it does seem that the mainstream media is sufficiently on the side of the oppressors to be mindful of the apparent truth of this quote and does attempt to suppress our point of view.—Joe]

  1. ‘marxists-dot-org” shows it _derives_from a letter:

    “A Letter To G. Myasnikov”
    https://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1921/aug/05.htm
“The bourgeoisie (all over the world) is still very much stronger than we are. To place in its hands yet another weapon like freedom of political organisation (= freedom of the press, for the press is the core and foundation of political organisation) means facilitating the enemy’s task, means helping the class enemy.

“We have no wish to commit suicide, and therefore, we will not do this.”

  2. Nice.

This prompted me to try to confirm two quotes I had previously saved, also attributed to Lenin: “A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny
gun ownership to the bourgeoisie.” and “One man with a gun can control 100 without one.”. Neither shows up on that website, and I can’t find other places that are more than just the quote without a citation. (Actually, one I found says “dubious”.)
    I did confirm this one:
“If the opposition disarms, all is well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves.” — Stalin (Works, Vol.10, p.378., from a speech in 1927)

    • “One man with a gun can control 100 without one.”

Whether that was said in those exact words by any specific person, it has certainly been demonstrated over and over. John Ross used the example of German concentration camps guarded by a few men with subguns carried in less-than-ready condition, but there are countless other examples. Ross’ point was that the camp inmates, if they understood anything about firearms, and if they weren’t already so completely cowed and demoralized, could have easily over-powered the guards and taken their weapons.

The main take-away is that it isn’t just the balance of arms, but also the moral status of the intended victim(s) that can determine the outcome– A state of intimidation brings defeat the way chum in the water invites sharks (and now I am reminded of the Republican Party, which, at best, is afraid of its own shadow).

      • Just consider the Spanish and the Aztec. Cortez never had more than 1200 Spanish men under his control at any one time, and a total of only about 1600 over time. He was to be arrested by order of the Governor of Cuba. He had few supporters back home. Yet he conquered a vast nation far from home with millions of citizens and far more slaves because they had guns and steel armor and swords.

        • It helped immensely that all the neighbors of the Aztecs were willing to help wipe them out. Being used to provide slaves and sacrifices for generations doesn’t leave much goodwill.

          • Washington, maybe, but this quote is still true in much of the USA: “You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass.” – Isoroku Yamamoto

      • You can look at it today. See those photos of the Iraqi and Syrian soldiers being marched into the desert to their KNOWN deaths.

And they STILL didn’t charge the few men with guns.

        • Yes, that is a puzzle. Even more so in those beheadings. I read something about a number of mock executions having preceded the real one, but it still is hard to understand.

  3. Operative word being “still”, as in “…still very much stronger..”. That was some time ago.

The Soviets knew all along that the U.S. could not be overthrown by force of arms. Rather it would take a long, slow process of degradation from within. Enter the Progressive movement.

  4. A story hit today about Texas’ Speaker of the House (R) has a plan to only allow Legitimate Journalists ™ access to House activities. Breitbart, which has a Texas branch, not included. Texas Tribune, which is far less mainstream, and online only as well, is okey doke. Oh yeah, they’re far left. This is a guy who hands out committee chairmanships to dems, even though the Rs hold a huge majority.

  5. Re: Commies and the Long March through the institutions, Diana West’s American Betrayal amd M. Stanton Evans’ Blacklisted By History are good places to start on how far back this crap goes. Also, read up on Antonio Gramsci and the Frankfurt School. Then again, I might be preaching at the choir here, y’all tend to be pretty bright folks.
