Quote of the day—Qrys Bin Thynkn (@QrysBinThynkn)

[It’s another Markley’s Law Monday! Via Mark (‏@tazcat2011).

It’s mind boggling how stupid some people are. In what universe does this even begin to make sense or have any hope of making a productive contribution to a discussion about gun ownership?—Joe]

  1. He’s obviously unaware that “cockfighting” involves birds.

  2. They do not care about productive contributions. They are about marginalizing, hatred, bigotry, and challenging any threat to their worldview. They are like a teenager who KNOWS!!1! they are right. They have their stereotypes, and will cling to them tightly, because like a vampire fears sunlight these sorts of minds fear reality; they know outside their temporary bubble, where they imagine they are safe because the illusion has been going on for so long, they wouldn’t stand a chance, and that thought terrifies them. SO, rather than face their fears, they retreat further into their imaginary world, where the law IS the effect, where the average person is bad but government people are good, where real independence is bad and dependence is good, where things are good or evil, and where facts and ethics are all relative.

    • As Cooper put it some years ago (I’ve been reading a lot of Cooper lately);

Envy, not money, is the root of all evil. The non-copers envy the copers.

And to blend quotes from Cooper and Yoda; envy, like fear, leads to anger. Anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering.

      • Lyle — that actually matches up reasonably well with the original quote, which is the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.

    • Teenagers who just know. That’s it exactly. I’ve had a feeling lately that the levers of government have been taken over by the High School Student Government class whose great claims to competency are getting elected and being able to run a fun meeting in the 45 minutes before the first class of the day.

  3. Hmmm… Looking at the handle, it looks like it would be read “Chris been thinking.”
Somehow, though, I don’t think he’s been thinking very hard, deep, or about facts.
On the other hand, “bin” (or ibn) is Arabic for “son of” to indicate parental linage, sort of like “-son” or “-sen” in Scandinavian names, and the “Q” transliterated from Arabic has a hard “k” sound IIRC, so perhaps it’s “Krissss, son of Thinkloon” or something like that. 🙂

    • Are you saying this sex-obsessed idea was put into words by someone who CHOSE the handle, Kriss, son of thoughtlessness?

      • I believe you are correct. I still wonder though how someone could come up with such a sex-obsessed idea. I guess for him it is like the jokes when “I am Curious” was released. “I am Curious but Yellow.”

    • I thought it translated to ‘I’m a pretentious douche who tries to come up with a witty handle spelled phonetically’.

Off topic, one of my minor hobbies is checking out how people mod weapons (good and bad). Being a huge videogame geek I enjoy it when someone comes up with a shootable gun from a game, too.

So I was very pleased to see this. It’s my favorite weapon from Fallout: New Vegas.

  4. When encountering a medical person who disapproves of guns, ask if they have treated anyone who was severely beaten, stabbed, or shot. If so, they have treated someone who needed a gun and most likely didn’t have one.

  5. Apparently my penis IS too small and ineffective. I have to get within 3 feet of an attacker to club them with it for self defense….and it won’t fire bullets at 1200fps.

  6. If you desire government you obviously have a very small and ineffective brain. I find it amazing you can breath without mechanical assistance.
