More from Churchill

Though he wasn’t born here, he obviously was an American;

“Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon.”

==============

“If you’re going through hell, keep going.”

==============

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”

==============

“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”

==============

“I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly”

==============

“A joke is a very serious thing.”

The British Parliament of course hated him, or so it is said.

  1. Do you know of any books that would detail why the English tossed him and decided to go with (continue on with?) socialism?

    • Probably why we have such a fierce battle against socialism and authoritarian overreach in this nation.

      People will always vote themselves free stuff when they find out they can.

      This isn’t just a British thing.

  2. I listened to William Manchester’s Churchill biography via Audible.com. I recommend it highly. The third and final volume was completed by someone else from Manchester’s notes, but is still good.

    Churchill had both friends and enemies in Parliament and was one of its dominant figures for much of his life.
