The National Park Service is failing a giant national-scale Milgram obedience to authority experiment. They are doing things, blocking off people from open air parks like the WW II memorial, even while individual rangers are saying that it turns their stomachs. Yet they still do it, saying they were told to, and they had no choice. It’s so bad even the Legacy Media is being forced to cover it and acknowledge it’s happening. This is government by spite, pure and simple. And the uniforms carry out their orders, even while complaining about it. And people say “you will never need guns, it can’t happen here.” Sorry to say this, but… it IS happening here, right now.
The rangers, and the rest of the government employees, DO have a choice. A hard choice to be sure, but it’s a choice they MUST make. And they are choosing poorly.
Quick update: Other than massive civil disobedience, and semi-politely getting in their faces and telling them personally they are failing the Milgram test badly, that they have become a cancerous tentacle of political dysfunction that is TRYING to infect and damage the population for spite, and calling / writing your congress-critters, what’s the best response to these toxic leprechauns?
It is a test to see how much the public with put up with. Mind you the parks belong to us and we let this happen.
From what I’ve been reading there has been mild disobedience, but disobedience nonetheless. People moving cones, breezing past gates and barriers, etc. Let’s hope that the trend continues. The administration may well be inoculating the public in the exact opposite way they had hoped – the public may be willing to cast off the bondage of their presumed overlords.

When we laugh at their obvious miscalculation, and they see that we’re not intimidated, that the appearance of the moral high ground (they know nothing of the real thing, and so when we have the real thing they see it only as an appearance) may actually belong to us after all, it puts a cold dread into them, such that they long for the cover of darkness and will try to disappear into the ground. They are NOTHING without their false appearances and props.
Not sure about the Parks service, but the Nat’l Guard, Reserves, and Active-Duty Military ALL swear oaths that include the phrase “all enemies, both foreign and domestic“. The current
lackofadministration would definitely apply.The question is would the military see the public responding to abuses like this as legit and ignore orders to enforce the “the orders of the C-in-C” or a rebellion to be crushed? Given how the NPS has responded to such obviously hateful, spiteful tactics, I’m not sanguine about the prospects.
Understand it. There can be no doubt that most will follow orders. They have been prepped for it, conditioned to it, and whether it pisses them off or not, whether for fear of their carriers, peer pressure, the need to fit in and be a team player, or fear for their lives, they are going to follow orders. The vast majority of people fit into one of many various roles. Players on a stage, is one common way of putting it. Once you recognize and understand the personality type and the group identity you can predict the general responses to various stimuli. It is pre conditioned. It’s a done deal.
I don’t remember the specific words, but in fact every federal employee is required to swear some sort of oath about upholding the Constitution.
Clearly, most don’t have a clue what that means, otherwise they wouldn’t be there in the first place. Most of their jobs are unconstitutional; the entire Park Service is one excellent example.
http://archive.opm.gov/constitution_initiative/oath.asp has a text of the oath, though it says that “he content available is no longer being updated and may no longer be applicable as a result of changes …”. It also offers to show “the current version” which simply shows me that same text again.
Anyway, it clearly shows that the words RA referred to apply to all these people, which means that the vast majority of them are felons (perjurers).
Why have you arbitrarily left civil disobedience off the table, being as it is one of the most effective tools ever, when done right? ML King Jr and Gandhi are excellent examples.
Our adversaries are cowards. They rely on public support for their appearance of strength and authority. Stand up to them for the right reasons and they run for the shadows.
When waiting for a rally in support of a local candidate last spring, our group was told that if we didn’t vacate the public property we were standing on, we’d be facing the police. My immediate response to the snarling dipshit in our faces was to look him in the eye and say, “OK!” It was not planned, and the entire rest of the group, most especially the candidate, he had an advisor talking Wormtounge into his ear, he was intimidated, and it wasn’t my gig, there wasn’t time to convince them that we had just won a huge victory and all we had to do was stand our ground. That’s all! Just. Stand. Your ground. They didn’t get it and so we left. That was a huge missed opportunity. Oh, and his campaign fizzled.
The bottom line is we have to think ahead, plan, stay firm, united, be steady, and absolutely be prepared to get arrested. That’s when we win, IF we’re doing it for the right reasons, don’t get pissed, and do not flinch. If a bus load or two of the elderly in Yosemite had gone to jail the other day, Obama and his lackies would be shaking in their sweaty jack boots right now. That’s a sure victory. Why rule it out?
I didn’t rule it out. I was trying to say “other than the obvious things, like civil disobedience, and writing your congress-critters, what ELSE can you do?” I’m not planning on going to any parks in the near future, so I’m not likely to bump into any NPS rangers. Already wrote my dim-brained, poorly educated, and socialist-leaning senators. I was wondering if there was anything else that isn’t so obvious we could be doing.

Watch, listen, report, take heart. I think we’re winning, and even when the GOP takes this victory and flushed it down the toilet, we’ll still be winning. The Old Guard GOP is like a dead man walkin’ right now, and they are what’s been standing in our way. They’re self destructing, and only because a handful of people are shinning a little light on them. This is really, really good.
I want to sit at a lunch counter in some DC museum and demand to be served like anyone else.

We should have a very long memory of whom in power abuses us and who followed the order to do the abuse.
Perhaps if tyrants’ heads (and also their enablers) were still routinely mounted on sticks alongside the highway, for both a punishment and a reminder of their misdeeds, we wouldn’t have to endure such foolish people as them and the evil they set upon us.
