Quote of the day—Rivrdog

The situation in CA doesn’t qualify as a “slippery slope”, it qualifies as Free Fall.

[It’s not quite that bad. The courts have slapped them down a couple times and the lawyers are winding up to do a bunch more swatting.

The “silver lining” in all the oppressive laws against gun owners is that it makes it more likely to get favorable rulings in the courts that can be built upon to push things even further back.—Joe]

  1. I’m hoping that these Anti-Gun Laws in Kali get passed. That way, they can be fought all the way to SCOTUS. And IF the same 5 who ruled in favor of Heller and McDonald are still there, there’s a good shot at getting ALL those Draconian Laws passed by the various VolksRepubliks overthrown.

However, if one of the 5 dies or retires while Reid and Obama are still in charge, then you know that some Communist will get Appointed, with the help of RINOs like McCain.

Then we are all SCREWED, like the Citizens of Kalifornia are about to be.

  2. Being a firearms owner there was like being gay used to be. I couldn’t tell my landlord. I felt compelled to lie to my neighbors (“what instrument is that?” “Oh, that case just contains tools. Wups, gotta run!”). Other gun people coworkers who I eventually found told me to never talk about it while at work. There were all kinds of confusing laws and downright FUD spread, even at the range, so you were always afraid of (and probably were) breaking some law.

I feel almost guilty now that I’m back here. My coworkers continue to live in fear, and I bought an AR while on a lunch break, have a CCW, and can OC if I want to. I think I know a little bit of what it feels like to come out of the closet now.

I berate the SAF folks every time they call about their UN stuff that I really want my friends in CA to get help and I wish they’d focus on that instead. I know stuff is in progress there (I still read calguns sometimes), but I think back on how it was and I just want my friends there to feel like I do now.

  3. I occasionally have need to take a Road Trip, and when I do, it’s usually to AZ. The easiest way to get to AZ from western OR is to drone down the I-5. I don’t do that anymore, but take some exciting and slower mountain roads through Eastern OR, NV and/or UT to get to AZ. Lengthens the trip by almost a day, but I get the warm fuzzies knowing that the Kel-Tec Sub2000 behind the seat is legal where I’m driving. There might even be a CETME back there, too. Kali hates all those guns. They can KMA.

    • Some of the scariest roads I’ve ever driven on have been in those areas, particularly in Nevada. Is that what you mean by “exciting”?
