You can’t make this stuff up

All I know for certain about this person is they are ignorant, an Android user, and Sitemeter captured their visit to my blog. My hope is that those vectors are orthogonal. Their entry page to my blog is here.

Check out the search phrase, “what is the red spot indicates whether a man is virgin r not”:

  1. I was wondering if the red spot in question is the ones worn on the forehead in some parts of the world. After all, the referring URL host name ends in “.in”, the country code for India. Time zone is interesting… UTC-1 is Cape Verde, Portugal, Greenland…

  2. That ear business is funny. I’m currently reading William Patterson’s biography of Robert Heinlein, and last evening was reading the chapter about his Plebe year at Annapolis. As part of the hazing upperclassmen ask the Plebes questions during meals, so as they might not be finished eating at the end of the meal time. One such hazing question was, “Mister, are you a virgin?” Heinlein’s trick answer to the trick question was “Yes Sir! — In my left Ear!” or possibly his belly button.

    • Hadn’t heard that one, but I like it! All the more reason to get a destroyer named after him. (The first Zumwalt DDG should have been named the USS Heinlein, but oh, well.)

      • My fav plebe haze (IIRC, I read about it in Carlos D’Este’s “Patton” biography) was when an upperclassman would ask a plebe “how many bricks did it take to finish paving the [somebody important] Courtyard?” Patton had to explain this when escorting some visitors around the campus and they passed several plebes on hands and knees in the courtyard, counting bricks. Some time later, the visitor asked “so, how many did it take to finish?” Patton never skipped a beat. “One.”

  3. Perhaps they are a nutcase like me. I bait Google with wacky searches just for giggles sometimes–then click every link that shows up on the first three pages. I’m sure there are many webmasters that have scratched their head, thinking, “Why the hell would someone search for MUSLIM CAMEL TURD MACHINE GUN?”

Or at every opportunity, I’ll search for “tampons for cats”, until I start seeing Google ads for Kotex and Friskies Buffet.

Of course, I’ve also been known to express my displeasure with shitty website programming by leaving 404 comments to the webmaster–reload… reload… reload… reload…

  4. WTF is a user-agent string of “Safari 1.3 Mozilla/ …”? See, this is why development for the web is so much fun. In the end, it looks like the browser being used is Safari. OK, that uses the the Webkit rendering engine, but why muck that up with the Mozilla term, and further cloud it with KHTML (reference to Konqueror?) “like Gecko”? If you’re trying to do dynamic content, either with JavaScript or server-side redirects or conditional scripting, do you send HTML optimized for Webkit or Gecko? (And why should it matter? Yay standards!) What I remember from the times I used Konqueror to surf the web, it rendered quite differently from Gecko-based broswers.

I too have been know to use the refresh button to send comments to the webmaster. URL munging can be used for this as well, e.g. “&isPopup=true” becomes “&isPopTart=tapioca”, or something else.
