Quote of the day—Sheryl Nuxoll

The insurance companies are creating their own tombs. Much like the Jews boarding the trains to concentration camps, private insurers are used by the feds to put the system in place because the federal government has no way to set up the exchange. Several years from now, the federal government will want nothing to do with private insurance companies. The feds will have a national system of health insurance and they will pull the trigger on the insurance companies.

Idaho senator compares health exchange to Holocaust
[My resident medical insurance expert says, “Time will tell.”

The problem is similar to the Jews boarding the trains. Once you enter the camp it’s too late to change your mind about getting on the train. I wonder how many of them said, “Time will tell.”—Joe]

  1. The best guess I’ve seen is that the exchange system is designed to fail. When it does, the (D)’s answer will be a single-payer system run by Uncle Sam. The timing is right for a lame-duck Obama to make this decision as Hillary runs for his job. She will support single payer, for the SECOND time, but with dumber voters in the majority now, the issue will elect her.

Second prediction: the GOP, still divided on defunding the HCA, will wind up supporting single-payer.

  2. Interesting analogy. The one I was thinking about is “The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them.” (V. I. Ulyanov). Same outcome either way.

  3. Obamacare is a Trojan Horse to cause private insurance company collapse along with abysmal and chaotic conditions so that the government can ride in on the white horse of single-payer health care. I curse the Democrat socialists scum.

  4. What will O-care be when fully deployed? A system where we all get to pay more, for no discernable increase in value. We will have a two-tiered system where the wealthy and politically-connected get great care, and the rest of us get crappy care. This will at some point collapse, the government will call it a “market failure” despite the lack of an actual market, and institute “single payer”, under which….the wealthy and politically-connected get great care, and the rest of us get crappy care.

This will be deemed a “Victory for the People”.

  5. Braden, people who built this monstrosity, from 0 down, talked about 0care being an intermediate step because single payer was a no-go.

OT: as seen at Ace’s Place:

The man masturbates stupid and ejaculates embarrassment.

Go read an epic Ace takedown of collossal stupidity from Slate. Then remember that that mindset is firmly in control of the aircraft, with the cockpit door barred.

  6. Contrary to many peoples beliefs, the battle was not and is not lost with Obamacare. The battle was lost in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s with the initiation of DRG’s by Medicare.

Once the government determined not what they paid, but what doctors and hospitals could BILL for, the die was cast. While doctors and hospitals could still bill what they determined was appropriate, and decide if they would accept what the Medicare reimbursed as total payment, the system was still in a somewhat balanced state. The determination was made on “reasonable and customary” charges. If your doctor charged more than the guy across the street, you could decide if you wanted to pay the difference or switch.

Once Medicare got to decide what the hospitals could BILL for, (not the actual charge, but the procedure or evaluation) they had the leverage to determine the future of medicine. It was decided long ago, before Obama was even elected for the first time.
