If an antigun person thinks that if someone is carrying a gun they must be “just looking for someone to shoot”, “looking for trouble”, “secretly want to be a cop”, or any other such nonsense then wouldn’t it be appropriate to ask them one or more of the following?
- If you don’t carry a gun then you must be looking to be a carjacking/mugging/kidnap/rape/murder victim.
- If you don’t carry a gun then you must believe violent crime cannot happen to you.
- If you don’t carry a gun then you must secretly want to the police to rescue you.
Or, of course, they think their penis is so large and durable they can use it as a weapon.
Maybe there are those who are persuadable and can see the anti-gunner claims as just as silly as your proposed responses. I’m guessing that hard core anti-gunners will see the silliness of your responses, but not their own. Sometimes using absurdity to illustrate absurdity is useful, but I wouldn’t count on it making many converts.

And since I have a spare tire and a jack in my vehicle, I must be driving around looking for a nail to run over.
And likewise, I want my car to run out of oil (since I carry extra) and catch on fire (since I have an extinguisher).
A different tack is to ask them if they really believe they have the ability to read other people’s minds or are they just lying?
Make their heads explode…Point out that “By that logic, she really *WAS* asking to be raped by dressing that way.”

I’ve gone the fire-extinguisher/smoke-detector route as a counterargument to that one before. It usually works pretty well. “Well, I have those because you never know when a fire’s gonna break out.” “I carry a gun because you never know when a carjacking or mugging is going to happen.”
My response to those uptight holier-than-thou women would be along hte lines of what that General once told the female reporter (IIRC), when accused of being a warmonger because he had all of the guns and tanks and stuff that equipped him to be so. His reply was “well, the Good Lord saw fit to equip you to be a prostitute, so….”
I don’t carry a gun….. because I live in Illinois, But soon, I will be able to legally, I hope!!!
