Quote of the day—Tom

I would like to see the U.S. military raid every home of neighborhoods that have a high rate of gun violence. Sweep the area, bust down doors if people won’t let you in and rip the homes apart looking for illegal guns that have a potential to be used in crimes. if a thug commits a crime with an unregistered gun that results in death or injury to anyone, the penalty should be life in prison with no parole or the death penalty. Are you with me?

  1. Holy smokes. The busting down doors bit is standard leftist fare, but the next bit is an interesting look into the pathology;
“if a thug commits a crime with an unregistered gun that results in death or injury to anyone, the penalty should be life in prison with no parole or the death penalty. Are you with me?”
For years we’ve been trying to get across the fact that there are already dire consequences for things like armed assault, robbery, rape and murder, and right here, sure enough, Tom in Rochester demonstrates that he has no knowledge of existing laws and penalties that predate gun laws and even predate gunpowder. Or more importantly, he doesn’t care.

Gun restriction has never been about crime and safety, except as a means of facilitating crimes by government and ensuring the safety of those criminals in government. Government going around busting in every door? Great. No problem. Unregistered gun? Get ’em!

Then, when things have gone completely off the rails into chaos, the same people will say, “How did this happen? This is not what we wanted. How could we ever have seen this coming?”

    Lather, rinse, repeat.

  2. Other than style, this is really no different from Sen. Feinstein’s comment some years ago: “If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them . . . Mr. and Mrs. America, turn ’em all in, I would have done it.”

As representative Clyburn put it: “There’s nothing in the constitution that says the Federal government has got anything to do with most of the stuff that we do.”

So not only don’t they care about the Constitution, they seem to be proud of it. Which makes them felons, every last one of them — because perjury is a felony and they supposedly swore an oath to uphold the Constitution.

  3. “if a thug commits a crime with an unregistered gun that results in death or injury to anyone, the penalty should be life in prison with no parole or the death penalty. Are you with me?”

So, apparently .gov goons with unregistered guns are okay, but civilian thugs are not. How does a dead or injured person make that distinction? For how many years in the slammer did Lon Horiuchi get sentenced? Oh, yeah. None.

    • That is a good point, but to pick a little nit; the .gov guns would in theory all be “registered” at least insofar as they are cataloged in the departments’ inventories and presumably checked out to particular individuals. That is all in theory of course. Practice can be (and often is) an altogether different matter.

  4. “… raid every home of neighborhoods that have a high rate of gun violence.”
Disarm the poor, IOW? Sounds familiar.

  5. This loon makes the case for violence, and for a return to it in the style that the Founders used…

  6. It’s difficult to find a “solution” to gun violence that the left suggests that hasn’t already been tried. This one was tried in Florida in the 1865-1900 period. The sheriff would come around and search all the “suspicious” homes, take the guns, and leave. 2-3 weeks later the Klan would come by and hang the usual suspects.

I suppose it kept things peaceful.

    • “I suppose it kept things peaceful.”

      Exactly.

“Peace: The lack of meaningful opposition to socialist, Marxist, Fascist, communist or jihadist military expansionism. Example: “It’s time to stand up and fight for ‘Peace'”. Also see “Unity”.

  7. He’s a racist, also. Areas with “high rates of gun violence” is just a euphemism for black neighborhoods.

  8. This is the argument the Left uses, suspend the rights of innocents to attain some “noble” objective. This would compromise the Constitution in so many ways that just reading it is astonishing. I must now ask have we learned nothing from our experiences ?

  9. Being a Rochester, NY native I would just like to say that Tom does not represent the typical mentality here. While downtown Rochester is probably right up there with Chicago and Detroit for crime and murder the surrounding area is very conservative with the occasional uptight NYC wanna be “progressive”.

  10. I’m with you, Tom. I think that’s a fabulous idea. Just one thing: You first.
So sorry about you being hauled out of your home in handcuffs at 2am on Christmas Eve. Sorry about your dog and your cat and your goldfish. SOP for soldier safety, don’t you know. Sorry that flashbang landed too close to your kid’s head and now she’s half blind and deaf. Sorry that the ripping apart of your home resulted in $30,000 in damages. Sorry about the nightmares you and your family will suffer from for the rest of your life. But hey! People have a right to be free from violence. Right?
