Quote of the day—Barry Snell

To my fellow citizens who are anti-gun I say: So long as you deny our humanity, so long as you malign our dignity, intelligence and wisdom, so long as you seek to shade us under a cloud of evil that we do not partake in or support, so long as you tell us that because we own guns we are terrible people, you will prove yourselves absolutely right in that we won’t come to the table to talk with you.

And there will be no hope for resolution but through victory by force initiated by one side or the other, God help us, for we will not plow for those who didn’t beat their swords into plowshares.

Nearly every paragraph of this editorial could be a QOTD. It’s very good.

  1. Yup, he seems to hit all the major political points pretty succinctly. Lays out an excellent case, in small part using but not getting getting bogged down in, numbers and statistics and minutiae, and has a lot of great citations linked to. A good one to bookmark for future reference.

  2. I don’t understand why he says “And there will be no hope for resolution but through victory by force initiated by one side or the other …” and I don’t agree with that. The message is confused and misleading. It suggests a moral equivalence between the two sides — both initiators of force — when in fact no such equivalence exists. And this is important.

There are two sides here. One wants to infringe on the human rights of the other, the other wants to be left alone. Yes, the infringers — the gun banners — clearly rely on initiated force. But the other side is not initiating any force and has no need to. Leave my guns alone and you won’t hear from me. Try to take my guns away — that’s initiation of force — and I will defend myself.

    • Yup; just take the word “initiated” out and it works fine. thanks for noticing that– I had missed it on first reading.

The force is always initiated by the enemies of liberty, i.e. the left/Progressive/jihadi camp, whether by law, by smear tactics, fraud, distortion, common crime, through riots or by other sinister means. All we can do is defend our principles or surrender them. Either way we die, so our bodies can be considered expendable, which is liberating in a way when you think about it.

  3. @Paul Koning: I agree with your observation. We will not be the ones that cause the next civil war. They will be responsible for using the might of the government to attack lawful gun owners, whose only fault will be a refusal to turn in their firearms, that they are guaranteed under the Constitution.

My head is spinning at the the feckless approach they are using. They seem to think that bans, severe restrictions, confiscations, or just near total prohibition of firearms through draconian laws will be met meekly. Civil disobedience is just about guaranteed and then there is the risk of escalation to violence.

When a decent law-abiding citizen is backed into a corner for no good reason and threatened with prison for firearms ownership, how are we supposed to react?

A very dangerous game they are playing (and they are too stupid to see this).

    • “(and they are too stupid to see this)”

Oh, they see it just fine. They’re counting on it, in fact.

Understand your enemy. You have heard the phrase, “Top Down, Bottom Up, Inside Out” haven’t you? That’s what it means, Dearheart. They’re planning themselves a revolution. “Fundamental Transformation” anyone? Hello?

Sure; there are the dumbfounded, mesmerized, glassy-eyed Obama supporters who think it means something nice and bright and beautiful which they cannot define, but to Obama and his cronies and handlers it means war. Death and destruction.

You can see it plain as day, so just go ahead and accept it.

Our job is to deny them that war, or failing that it is to deny them the particular war that they have planned.

It’s a bitch, ain’t it? That’s what I meant when I said that we have a very narrow, delicate path to tread. The Forces of Darkness want you to start shooting them. They’ll poke and prod and poke and prod until you do. GET IT? And at that point they’ll have their way with you, because at that point they OWN you. In fact, if they have you beside yourself with frustration and anger, they already own you.

I don’t know. Maybe you don’t get it. But as that little green Jedi said. “Oh, you will…. You will.”
