[If he only knew the total sum of crazy people in my life he would think I have a herd of recruiters out looking for crazy people and sending them my way.

I actually asked my counselor why there were so many crazy people attracted to me and why I was, in many cases, attracted to crazy women. With her help I think I have solved the later problem. I suspect there is no practical, moral, and legal solution to the first problem.—Joe]

  1. Back when the internet was new (1990s) and people posted on boards where everyone had access to everyone’s e-mail addresses, I posted on a political board where a lot of the liberals started getting crazy scary e-mails. These were not your garden variety threats. These were e-mails from someone claiming to be a dead serial killer who was going to do terrible things to people (which he described in great detail). The e-mails were truly chilling. Some of the people who got them turned them over to law enforcement. I don’t know what happened after that but the e-mails eventually stopped coming.

Anyway, there is “regular crazy” which includes a lot of people and then there is “off the charts crazy” which is reserved for the few who are really crazy. As long as you just attract “regular crazy,” I don’t think you have much to worry about. When you start attracting lots of “off the charts crazy,” you need to look at what you are doing to attract these people and then you need to learn how to deal with it. (Celebrities, for example, frequently attract the mentally ill who think they share some connection.)

One suggestion: Rather than toying with the crazies, ignore them. Logic doesn’t work with these people. When they don’t get the response they want (which could be ANY response), they usually go away.

    • It’s “regular crazy”. People that most people would consider eccentric, just a little “different”, or don’t/can’t think rationally when presented with clear facts and obvious conclusions.

As you said, “Logic doesn’t work with these people.”

  2. I too find myself attracted to/attracting crazy women. Maybe because they are interesting and not boring.

    My wife would not disagree.
